Area agencies stage mock shooting

Full story: Silver City Sun-News

There will be the blare of sirens, chatter over police scanners, to include the words "shooter" and "victims," and a race of emergency vehicles toward the Western New Mexico University campus as area agencies prepare for the unthinkable.

I heard these Einsteins were going to do this without notification to the community for a real life simulation. The word was that it was Faye Vowells idea. I'm glad they reconsidered.

Well then you heard wrong. Thats what you get for believing the Silver City rumor mill. From the very beginning of this it was always the intention to have a press release and notify citizens. And contrary to the article none of the agencies will be responding with lights and sirens to a training incident. All units going up there will be driving normal traffic.

I was involved in this simulation. I can only hope there is someone at one of the agencies that will point out that this was a complete and total failure.
i suspect however that they are now slapping eachother on the back and saying how great this all was.

Thats your own opinion Ross! Take it for what its worth and don't try and hide under a stupid moniker! Be a man and go and tell the agencies yourself!

The EP Sheriff Department did something similar to this a few months ago. Instead of a college/university, they used a middle school with actual real students.

Then take Chief Flores' invitation to meet with him, or the other agencies, and give your HONEST opinion of what you felt went wrong and how it can be improved. IF you were really involved then you saw the situation evolve from a different point of view than any one else and may have an important point to make that can be improved on. This was meant to be a learning exercise and unless we hear some constructive criticism then it will all be for not. Now as the above post stated, quick writting on this forum, put your man pants on and come forward with your opinion.

No need to stage a mock shooting. We've had 8 REAL ONES and only one was solved. And it was solved by the New Mexico State Police. If the police were as incompetent with this staged shooting as they were handling the recent fires in the area, it must have been a real FUBAR.
