This is truly a crime that Sparks will be able to continue her career ( whatever it might be moving forward-cannot imagine anyone feeling comfortable with her now ) while the individual who was responsible for getting the truth out is the one without a job.

Even though I am a tax payer and our hospital is county funded- Gila Regional Medical Center MUST be held accountable for ignoring the information provided them for over 2 years that Sparks was drawing on and fondling patients while they were under anathesia.

Grant County, speak up and be heard....demand accountability.

Dr. Sparks is a good specialist. The people she saved should have the courage to speak out for her. We will keep you in our prayers Dr. Sparks.

If a male doctor had done this, he would be out of a job forever. She sounds like she is disturbed and unfit to be a doctor. We really don't need out tax dollars supporting this nonsense. She needs to get another job...she is a pervert....

Oh give me a break. What if she had "molested" one of your grandchildren while she had them in surgery for something like putting tubes in their ears, then would you be "praying" for her? Fact is, SHE'S A MOLESTER PEOPLE!!!

There is one cardinal rule for all physicians: do no harm.By her actions, she has rendered herself unfit to continue practising. She is a disgrace to her profession. The question is how many staffers knew this was happening? When did Gila Regional know about this and why weren't immediate steps taken to report this sexual battery? The hospital caved to the financial realities, and kept an unworthy doctor and fired the whistle blower. The taxpayers in Grant county need a rendering of accounts here. Where were the safeguards? Where was the Board of Directors, the hospital administrator? As for the ridiculous statement of "Gila", this woman is most definately NOT a good doctor, and citing her past successes is like forgiving a pedophlie because he is a priest.

She is crazy....plain and simple. It is one thing to be a pervert and another thing to be a violator and a molestor. She is all of them. I am sure there are patrons at Eros who would love for her to pay a visit there in one of the booths. She should not be a doctor because obviously she lacks respect and dignity for those who are entrusting her with their medical care.

She must have been found guilty by all the restrictions that have been placed on her by the review board.
Jan's right, if this had been a male Dr. he would have been run out of town. She's not fit to practice med in this town.
Where are all her Artsy Fartsy friends now? Maybe they will be the only patients she gets and she can draw pictures and fondle them.

Good post. I think you answered you own question;"The question is how many staffers knew this was happening?"
"The hospital caved to the financial realities, and kept an unworthy doctor and fired the whistle blower."

Employee's of GRMC no doubt realize that they would lose their job if they dared to expose this or any other compromising incidents at the hospital.

Lately the hospital has been refusing to test for swine flu although patients going into ER have the symptoms. The reason for not testing as one ER attendent told my daughter, "there have been too many false postives coming back"! This does not make sense at all except that it no doubt saves the hospital money.

If the regulators were "scared" of suspending her license and the hospital refused to address the problem the public can accomplish the same outsome.

Agreeing to this settlement is similar to a plea of "no contest". You don't do that when you are innocent, especially if you are a physician and have to maintain your good reputation.

Now we will see if civil suits commence. Probably, insurance will settle for victims though. And then the beat goes on.

Since the victims were under anesthesia they are unlikely to know they were victims unless they woke up and found drawings or comments written on their bodies (and I bet the Recovery Room nursed scrubbed those off).

PLEASE don't confuse this sicko pervert with a national health plan that Americans need and deserve. Sparks has been doing this for years because she could....no one wanted to lose their job by reporting it. Gila is a publicly funded hospital and we as taxpayers should know what is in their "confidential" report!

Who wouldn't want to request a hearing to prove their innocence of such horrendous allegations? Who would choose instead to maintain a medical practice under such deplorable conditions? Who could work under those conditions? Would you be able to operate on someone with a monitor breathing over your shoulder? Is that safe for the patient to know that all these other thoughts must be going through Dr. Sparks mind while she's supposed to be operating on your throat where your airway is? Would you submit to polygraphs and all these other things she's agreed to? When will she find the time to maintain a practice and keep all these other appointments and travel to Kansas and still keep up with your condition as a patient. A person would have to be like wonder woman. How long can she keep all this up? I can't believe they just swept it all under the rug and gave her back her practice? Insane..really how insane is all this?

You are absolutely right there Robert and that is exactly what I intend to do tomorrow morning. This cannot be allowed to continue. I can see others not wanting to lose their jobs over it but is it because they knew about it and said nothing or because they are being threatened if they speak they will be out of a job. C'mon Silver City, this is not Los Angeles and all these other great cities we hear about and watch on CNN and FOX News. We can't let this continue. We're talking about drawings what kind of sick person does that? Face it, if we can't trust our doctors to be alone with us in a room; much less while we're under anesthesia, what the heck is said doctor still doing in practice? A doctor operating on you with a monitor hanging over her head or following her around day and night. Do they intend to hire a 24/7 body guard for all Gila Regional patients? Is this what our healthcare has come to? When is someone going to wake up and start protecting our rights. Why aren't Grant county citizens rising up and speaking out and putting a stop to this? It's one thing to know her personally or have your paycheck depend on it. But it isn't just up to employees what about you citizens why aren't you stomping this out in the streets of Silver City, NM?
