<quoted text> Well Terry you should note then that the Stamford and Hartford database is the same database. That's easy to verify just go on line and check it out for yourself. It's not two separate data bases as they claim so that is misleading because there are not that many members. Most or should I say all of the attractive women between 30 to 45 years old are "inactive" and have been since I signed up 6 months ago. I've only seen one new member sign up since I joined to. It's a total dissappointment and sham. These people need to be in jail. They became Connections because over the last 20 years everyone became aware that Great Expectations was a scam. True it is a legitimate dating site but they are the most deceptive and misleading of all of the dating sites online. There is a lot of people who have been manipulated and basically swindled out of a lot of money by having their lonilenness and hope preyed upon. These people have no ethics and are no better then sociopaths in my opinion.
I totally agree with Tom......total SCAM!!! I signed up thinking that these people were legit....after a very short period of time I saw that the majority of the men I found attractive men are inactive. The Website is SO outdated.....no "upcoming events".....last photos from group events are a few years old. Biggest ripoff of all.........I love how they don't disclose what they are going to charge you until after you've completed your paperwork disclosing your salary, etc. Don't ask to see any of their members before you sign up.....because that is not going to happen. They will claim they have to protect the privacy of their members....but the real fact is that if you see who is available.....you won't join. Are there a few reviews that say they have found success......yes, I read those too. But, keep this in mind......there are equally as many - if not more complaints. So - to those people who claim "there are a few disgruntled members".....please open your eyes and read what is right in front of you. I don't mind paying for a service......but if a service isn't provided on SO MANY Levels.....then you are simply being cheated.

I would like to thank all of you for posting. Yes, even as far back from 2009. I actually have an "Interview" tonight that I am going to call to cancel. Honestly, I am amazed! Dating is scary enough but this place sounds like a nightmare. I think I'll just stick to meeting people the old fashion way :-)

It's a real shame that there is not a way to put these people out of business. They folded as Great Expectations several years ago and just changed their name to Connections Dating. I wish I had read the comments on this website before parting with my $2,000. They no longer even have any events in this area but obviously have found more victims. Too bad Elizabeth Warren couldn't do something to put them out of business permanently.

I paid over $4500. I pursued answers years ago and they vanished.

Cheryl,

So sorry to hear about your experience. Mine was virtually the same. I've had to chalk it up to a learning lesson in doing my research before I sign up for anything again. These people need to be put out of business. I could have used that money for something that I really needed. I went through all the proper channels to report them, i.e. Consumer Protection and the FTC. I was able to recup a small amount. l guess as long as there are a few people who are able to meet someone through this company they will remain in business or so it seems. It stings everytime I think about my experience in getting ripped off.

My wife work for a local dating service. Great expectations came in and bought that service. They sent a new GM in as her boss. 3 weeks later he quit and they shut the doors. She worked for 3 weeks without pay. Promised check was in the mail. Still no pay and doors still shut. Although the web site welcomes the new branch!
