Come on down and bring your money! Here's the deal...no one gets stopped for speeding, that isn't speeding. Come to city court some night and listen to all the folks caught doing 40, 50, even 60 in a 30 mph zone. Listen to all the upstanding citizens who got stopped initially for a seat-belt violation, then 1) didn't have or couldn't find their license (ka-ching $$), 2) could not produce proof of insurance or registration (ka-ching $$).
If you think watching Judge Judy is a hoot, come on down to Gibson and watch Judge Crider rake in the money from willing donors!! It's the best live, free entertainment you'll find!!

I read in the local fish wrap that Gibson only wrote 333 citations last month, 176 for speeding, and the rest for things like no seat belt, overly tinted windows, no registration, etc. Only 333? They must be slowing down, or could it be that the new mayor's vow to 'clean-up' Gibson's image is taking hold?
Actually, the math works: 2 shifts a day, 26 days a month (They skip a few days), times 3 tickets per shift= 156 so that's about right. Three speeding tickets per shift should pretty well fund the department and that's all they really do is fund the department. Citizens of Gibson get a virtually free police department, funded entirely by speeders!
Tell you what, lets expand this little enterprise and fund the fire department. Just one extra speeding ticket per shift, with the money set aside for fire protection, and the City of Gibson could get a shiny NEW fire truck like Medina!
What do you think? Free police and fire department? Whoo Hoo!

Rode through the city misguided by GPS and cost me $150. Turned from a side road and didn't see a sign for the residential area. I haven't had a ticket in 20 years. Definately a speed trap there. Neighboring relatives confirm this. They should be ashamed. We were going 54 mph. Thought we were still on a HWY. Cocky officer, young fella. Took advantage of man out of work driving Ms. Daisy to Thanksgiving dinner. Won't be back there......EVER.

How in the hell is doing 54MPH in a 30MPH represent a "speed trap". The signs are in the same place they have been for 30 years. Speed traps move the signs or put them behind barriers where they can't be seen. Update your GPS, they probably don't want your ass there any more than you wanted to be there. Speeding is speeding, and excuses for why you got caught are abundant from the guilty.

No excuses. Paid the ticket. We turned off a side road onto the main road and apparently didn't see the "small" sign...Gibson wasn't our destination, nor will it ever be. Try not being a jerk....you'll get more friends that way dude.

All the cops are fairly nice but they are all rent-a-cops....none live in town. It shouldn't be a surprise that there is such an emphasis on enforcement, two aldermen are former officers (Caraway is THP retired, and Morris is the former Chief of Police of both Gibson and Medina)and the new mayor has been observed riding along on patrols numerous times. Nothing basically wrong in all of that, the speed limit hasn't changed in at least 45 years, and Gibson has aggressively enforced the limit for many, many years. Wonder how long before they get one of those timing loops and cameras like Medina is leasing and really clean up?

They eat a lot of fried chicken from Little General, that's the best place to find a cop if you need one....or sitting behind that shed by the community center driveway!

I like that park. Wide open spaces to play and you don't have to worry about your kid running into a fence or tripping over a base or something....lol's
