Can anyone help me to the right persons who can get my son disability? He applied 7 months ago but they keep putting him off. I guess they think his amputated right leg is going to grow back...I wonder how they would respond if I drove him up to the Capitol in Little Rock and let them watch him drag himself up the steps and listen to the painful screams coming from him when he tries to move his damaged hip and don't look at his stomach scars from 9 major surgeries. Do I need a lawyer or what?

Hello Upset Mom,
I truly am sorry to hear about what you and your family are going through. I am on disability and have been since I was around 16 because of a terminal cancer. It honestly does take a while for them to process everything I am not sure how long yall have been waiting but it took mine close to a year to come through and then they paid me in one lump sum the back payment that they owed me. You should continue to call them and check up on the case every week. Continue brining it to their attention and pretty much annoy them with it and something should get done. If not please find yourself a lawyer, most of the time lawyers in these cases do not expect payment unless you win the case so it is worth it by far, there are so many lawyers out there that are willing to take these cases and especially with your sons disability they would immediatly take it hands down i am sure. I hope that this issue gets resolved soon. |

disability lawyers advertise in the yellow pages and newspapers. call one and get them on it. call the dept of human services and get him on medicaid. If he has no assets they know what to do. medicaid will pay for home health and rehab and the equipment he needs. I'm surprised some social worker hasn't done all this for you. The governor's office has assistance sources also.

Thanks guys for all your input. I lavish any and all help at this point. I just realized that DHS turned us away back in June because they said he can't get medicaid unless he is deemed disabled. I think they were wrong about that, since I just called the governor's office and they told me to go back and ask for an MRT form. Think I'll try that.

I am very glad that things may be looking up for you and you were correctly informed, you do not have to be declared disabled to receive medicaid..I hope everything works out for yall! Good lUck!
