I think volunteer firefighters are very much under valued.
While the author seems to be implying this is something unique to Columbia County, the reality is that most if not all rural areas are protected by volunteers. Our volunteer fire department in CT saved a treasured family home years ago and many or our towns in the berkshires have volunteer departments. So nothing unique, but worth praising for sure. Unfortunately this should have been an announcement in community news as it is a promo for a fundraiser. These pages should be reserved for discussions about things facing our communities and potential solutions, in my opinion. |
