Well, THAT'S interesting. As of this morning 1/18, the website will no longer come up. I never got replies to my emails. A dream another victim of the economy, I guess.

Oh, and P.S. it would have been the 125th anniversary for poor Hobergs, not the 175th. My mistake.

HI -
I jusr got off the phone with "Hobergs Club Resort LLC" - and while they do not currently own the property - it is a work in progress and they are still trying to make all good things happen. I, personally, support their efforts and while I was told I would get a call back - I'm not going to hold my breath ----- but it is still a wonderful thought

I live next door and I've heard a lot of rumors over the years. But there's now a "SOLD" sign out front. It will be interesting to see what happens!

Some of us on Cobb met with the new owners of Hoberg's; deal closed on Friday 7/23/10. They will begin the make over starting very shortly. They also stated that they will be using local people for the renovations. They want to hear from citizens; so email them at their website and they will get back to you. They want our feedback.
Yes, they will be restoring the cabins and their names will remain the same. They will have many venues planned including concerts, outdoor movies, stage productions, movie making, and are big on renaissances faires....going back in time. The new owners are film makers and want to make a movie here...This is really going to be the biggest deal that has ever happened here in Lake County; and we sure hope the BOS don't try to snuff anything out.....we know what happened to Konocti.....so get smart BOS and support the only thing happening in Lake County. Visit their website hobergsclub.com/resort It is awesome!

I entertained with my father and brother at Hobergs in the 50s & 60s. This sounds too good to be ture.
I heard that Robert Redford and George Lucas purchase it, is that ture?

I spoke with them just this last weekend. Really good folks with really good intentions to be part of our community. As for restoration they want to keep it somewhat rustic, so the original website will be changed in the future, and have many events. I say, WELCOME!

I spent my honeymoon at Hobergs in 1957 and also we took our little girls there again in 1963. I have love it ever since even tho I haven't been able to get to it because I heard it closed and I was heartbroken - it was such a wonderful place, and at that time it also shared with Seigler Springs.

I have already posted a comment and your site keeps saying I have an invalid email address - it is correct and I have been using it for quite a few years now - so tell me why it's invalid.

I grew up on Cobb Mtn. and recently moved back to Lake County. The economy isn't allowing many jobs to be had anywhere-- much less, Lake County, but I just love it here. I have always loved Hoberg's. I was raised hearing many good stories from my Grandparents about the big band era and big names who frequented Hoberg's in the 50's and 60's.
I had a job interview with the new Hoberg's Club Resort manager Friday Sept. 17th. I am very hopeful to take part in their vision for reopening Hoberg's. They are great people with great ideas. Wish me luck!

ref:Can anybody shed light on the website (copyright 2009-2010) put up at hobergsclub.com by Hobergs Club Resort LLC? It claims that the old Hoberg's resort is going to be up and running for it's 175th anniversary in Summer 2010. They're bosting pretty luxurious facilities including an outdoor amphitheater for concerts. Seems hard to believe looking at the property. Is this for real? I subscribed to the e-newsletter but so far haven't gotten anything.

FYI

Golden Leaf Pictures and Global Cinema Distribution, based in the SF Bay Area, are looking for a Producer with applicable experience interested in partnering to produce a reality show. The program would be a mini-series on the restoration of the Hoberg property, a 50+ acre resort in Lake County. The Hoberg Resort was run by three generations of the Hobergs and was world famous; guests included everyone from politicians, musicians, wealthy businessmen and famous scientists to artists and musicians in its heyday. Production on this project would begin immediatley up until about August, 1-2 days a week on Fridays and/or Saturdays. Please respond with your experience and contact information, including your phone number to [email protected] Thank you.

I have so many memories of Hoberg's. Ozzy, who played the trumpet to call everyone to the ball field, bbq, or whatever else was going on. Sliding on that slippery stuff on the upper dance floor area, while Sal Carson played to those packed outdoor dances. Or my folks getting wasted at one of the bars. The little cabins with their own names that we just had to have each year. Early 50's, well into the sixties.

When are they gonna start doing some work on that place and hiring some locals. That should have been a stipulation of the purchase... to hire locally!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Hoberg's Resort in July 1950. We were married on the Bride and Groom radio show in Holleywood and the honeymoon was a gift from the show. I do hope someone will notify me if and when they reopen. My husband and I would love to come back again. We just celebrated 61 years together this year. We now live in Oceanside, CA.
