I'm somewhat new here, what is this talk about a casino in Gettysburg? Was there supposed to be one?

There won't be one for a long time from the sound of the newspaper article, although the Fathers of Gettysburg who post here will surely use their political and financial might to have things work out in their favor. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh won't know what hit 'em!

Contemporaneously the gangs and slum areas of Gettysburg will shrivel. No way the wimpy gang killers could take on the 50+ yr old diabetic chain smoking volunteer firefighters.

The police, the newspapers, the victims, the outside observers, and the sensible residents of Gettysburg are drooling imbeciles who think the sky is falling.

So is the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the oldest of its kind in this hemisphere.

Beware of casinos everywhere! They make imbeciles of us all! I am not the sharpest tack in the drawer but i was not the dullest either. Then the casinos lured me in and made me blow $1,000,000.00 and screw up my marriage. I now just wander around websites and make posts like this so people can see how bad casinos can mess people up.

Unfortunately Bill you didn't know about the evils of gambling . It sounds like you were lured in with the promise of always hitting it bigger. Like so many people that were taken in before the casinos were built and meetings were held . Always with the bullshit story of how they would be good for any area the build in. Rendell and the legislature of Pa had the same line of bull and the payoffs started . Now McCall is one of many that is double dipping with our dime .

They're hear to stay and will take all the money they can before you realize it.

Sadly, I was really dumb back then. Now I am just kind of dumb.

I now realize that advertising for casinos, or any product really is not necessarily a promise. They never PROMISED me anything. My delusional mind twisted what I saw. I now crusade against them so more dumb people like me do not fall victim.

"...playing cards or dice was another way soldiers would gamble."

It's doubtful many of them would've objected to a casino being built.

I wouldn't use the term dumb Bill . I've followed you for a couple of years and the state doesn't want you anywhere near so you can bad mouth the casinos . If dumb was anyone that goes near a casino I know a lot of dumb people . Some hear you and will admit after a couple of losing years the entertainment farce of Paul Anka and the Blue Man Group are just part of the come on in and spend your money. What are locations of any of your appearances and if you have any scheduled ?

I would. I was dumb not to have self control and realize what I was doing.
Dumb is not anyone that goes near a casino. don't know where you got that. Dumb is ruining your life by going.
I am laying low for awhile.

I got it from a lifetime of gamblers and numbers runners . Sports betting , punch cards , painted lottery balls, poker ,bingo . It's all a scam but the casino tops it all . One of the best was the money I wasted in a bar room . Til my dime slipped under a bar railing . I took an upside down peek and the railing was raised just enough to clean the bar with a dirty rag and sweep the loose change under the rail. The same guy later opened a convenience store and had a coffee can with a photo copy of lost kids . I asked him who put it there and who picks it up . I didn't trust the police that frequented the place and it soon disappeared . It ain't dumb , it's downright illegal and we're in the state that lets it all happen.

See Ya ,

I am sorry for those of you who have no self-control. I realize it is a problem for you, your families and friends. But, it is a illness that you have, and not the problem caused by the casino.

I would imagine for every one person who has no self-control at the gaming tables, there are thousands who can visit a casino responsibly. Should the honest entertainment of thousands be taken away because a few canít control themselves?

Now the next question is, should we remove all activities that people can become addicted to, and can ruin families, or just those things that you canít control?

Shall we remove the Home Shopping Network, shut down all the bars, eliminate the Walmarts, shut down all the fast food establishments?

Finally the court system does something right.
So where are some of the happy casino pro posters now? Nile? GburgbaseballMom, I see Deja is still here. You bashed your neighbors, insulted "friends", strangers, tourists, reenactors any one whom you thought might not agree with you, and for what? NO CASINO.
Some of the worst offenders whom now post on Borovent, were mighty "vocal" on Topix, but have become strangely "quiet" now. You made your town look like its inhabited by a bunch of nasty hicks. I'm sure those who push the tourist trade are ASHAMED at how you acted.

honest entertainment ? so is snorting coke and shooting up ? More than a few who have no control visit your den of thieves . The federales are already after home shopping network ,the bars have crime all the time and fast foods are stepping up to compete with the higher priced restaurants. Remove the casinos first. They contribute nothing except where it will benefits themselves . At a higher price than home shopping network. People are gradually getting the idea there is nothing to gain from a casino visit except an empty pocketbook. Chinese crime , spent money to be used for home . I could go on but I'll let the people figure it out for themselves that still think the blinking lights and clanging bells are entertainment .

LOL, the same old remarks. You really need to get some new material. You just don't get it, do you? From the looks of it you never will either. No wonder Gettysburg tourism has been in a slow rate of decline.
Move on AC you aren't capable of finding an alternative to declining tourism. As I asked a long time ago, now what? You aren't getting a casino, you've been denied AGAIN. So, what are your plans now for Gettysburg's future, do you have any? Didn't think so
