Has anyone else heard the rumor that Great Wolf Lodge has bought the Boyd's Bear property for a new resort? That would be awesome.
It is my understanding that several enterprising young ladies from the community did have an option to purchase Boyd’s Bears to turn into a bordello, contingent on the approval of the Mason Dixon proposal so they could accept customers from the casino. But since Mason Dixon was not approved, it looks like the building will sit vacant for a few more years.

Yes, there are plenty of casino's within driving distance... No need to muck up the historic area w/casino's and what come with them. Aside from some of the nasty things that comes w/casino's there is the traffic... I'm far from a prude, but I, for one, is happy it went somewhere else...
Historic my ass its a large piece of property that is sitting there doing no good who really care a battle fought there long before any of us were born it's a waste of good tax dollars to maintain it. it think they should let a casino be built right in the middle of it........

The Gaming Control Board did not "rule in favor of No Casino Gettysburg" - that's comical.

What ego does he have? He donated a million dollars to the Majestic Theatre, he runs a successful business that employs people and generates tax revenue. He tried to open a legitimate and legal business and he gets publicly trashed by people who oppose the thought of gambling. How come no one has a problem with the owner of McDonald's or any other restaurant and tourist trap that is closer to the battlefield than the casino would have been? To me it sounds like most of you just oppose gambling and/or are jealous of his success.
Nothing you mentioned is a gambling joint such as what we would have had if the Board would have given him a license.

Do not oppose gambling--just oppose doing it in Gettysburg--and do not give me the song and dance about it not being in Gettysburg because it would have been. Apparently the Board felt the same way. If there would have never been a Civil War her Dave would not have given this town a second look.

What in God's name are you talking about? NCG would have bee irrelevant without the big money behind it. NCG got the big money and grabbed the headlines, I'm not sure where I ever said that NCG was no factor or stupid for thinking you could stop it. If you want to generalize the Pro's, so be it. But there did exist a group of people out there that were able to cut through the crap from both sides and see what was really going on.
As for the Eishenhower, DLV's option to buy it hinged on whether or not they were granted the license. It wasn't awarded to Mason Dixon and DLV won't be buying the Eisenhower. So your point is moot.
So I'll ask again, NCG lets here your ideas and plans to help the area out.
Your last paragraph is my point exactly. Think ahead if you can. My question was now that he lost is he still going to think about providing jobs to Adams county as he first blabbed about or was his only idea to make money for himself?

He can still buy the EI and still make something out of it if his intention was to help Adams Co. as he and his followers kept saying. You still do not get it do you? It must be Dave's way or no way. So how is he helping Adams co?

Sir, there was no "vote," so how do you know it didn't receive a vote? There was a motion made to approve Nemacolin.
The Ch. of the Gaming Board polled all 7 members one at a time and 6 voted for Nemacolin and 1 voted for Fernwood.

<quoted text>You see that's the problem, The boyd's bear shop was in Greenmount, Which has a Gettysburg address, IT'S NOT GETTYSBURG, IT'S GREENMOUNT, People in the borough of Gettysburg need to mind their own little business and stay out of the other people's business, They think that because of the name Gettysburg and they live there, It is all their business.
Then why did the pros have their stupid rally in downtown Gettysburg right in front of the Wills house where Lincoln slept and Jeffy did his interview standing right next to the Lincoln statue?
Geez what a bunch. Maybe all you pros should get together and possibly one complete brain will fall out. They could have gone to one of their businesses that support them or even to the Eisenhower. Anyone want to answer me?

I know I know--they thought they were going to rub our noses in their crap one more time.

Dover Twp REALLY, REALLY could have used a casino with the new golf course that they just purchased. It would have been THE perfect place for penny-lots, nickel-dime-quarter poker, and lite beer.

You are exactly right, They should of had the Rally where it affected the most people. The only way that casino would affect Gettysburg is the business it would of generated when they went to town, Maybe you and I should of been on the committee to bring them here, All of them restraunts and shops in town stood to gain alot of widfall and now with the economy the way it is we will hear how business is down and they will have to sut the doors.

Mason Dixon was defeated by political and financial influence and not by local or even national opposition as I understand it. Very little if any credit for this should go to the No Casino activities and actions.

I still stand behind my support of legal businesses moving into Adams County. I have no idea when the next opportunity for a business that will offer the number of jobs that Mason Dixon would have given us will happen, but I will still hope for some business or entertainment venue that will provide us with jobs, and hopefully something that will draw more visitors to the community to enjoy and take advantage of what we have to offer.

Tourism by itself will no longer support and sustain our local economy, and we need something else. I never said the casino was the only answer, but it was the only option available, and I haven’t seen anything else offered up lately.

Over the last year I have meet some very interesting people both supporting and opposing this issue. Some from both sides I am very happy I have met and hope to foster a friendship with and others also on both sides I hope I never meet in person as they have displayed here that they have no respect for themselves or others. These are not the kind of people I care to associate with.

With nothing to draw visitors to the community but the battlefield, and those visitors dwindling each year, I hope that the community can survive and I hope some business will be attracted to us.

I do hope that everyone on either side of this issue will look forward and attempt to find businesses that will come here and provide jobs and support the tax base.

Best wishes to most everyone who has contributed to a courteous and open discussion on this issue and I wish you every success in all you do. I only hope that Gettysburg will survive past 2013. We will just have to hope for the best and wait and see.
