To Folkbum... On anyday I would love for you to walk in the shoes of a CO...I believe you could not do it....Working in a dorm of 60 - 70 men 8 hours a day, sometimes 16 if you get forced over. Not knowing what these guys are charged with....

I use to be a officer also. All the inmates are not corrupt but you are trained not to trust them. I didnt finish my probationary period because you see alot swept under the rug. Officers abusing inmates and still keeping their jobs, dont forget the suspension with pay (vacation). This goes to show you all inmates are not bad if they were she could of been dead. People need to stop assuming just because someone is in jail not make them any worse then you.
For your information officers are not suspended WITH PAY they are suspended WITHOUT PAY!

Political gain? You are extremely jaded! I guess it would never occur to you to help someone who asked for help, would it?

50 officers responded! Who was watching the inmates in the other dorms? If 50 officers were to respond virtually every dorm would have been left unmonitored!

Just a couple of points I would like to make:
1 On Sunday evening she spoke to Schoofs and complained to him about how outraged she was that she was locked in the dorm and that a supervisor was interogating her while she was receiving medical attention.
2 On Sunday night when she was asked if she wanted Schoofs to contact the news media. She replied " Hell Yeah!"
3 She told Schoofs to give her phone number " to anyone if it would benefit her for them to know what happened."
So who do you think was manipulating whom?

First of all,I would like to address the comments made that basically stated the correctional officers are abusive or they treat the inmates horribly. Not all officers are the same, most treat inmates with respect. officers have to do their jobs and enforce policies of the jail. The inmates usually have no issues with staff and they understand officers are doing their job.
Are there a few that may walk a fine line and get an attitude with the inmates? I am sure there are.... heck, there are police officers like that.
Did this officer provoke this? in my opinion absolutley not. Some inmate attacks are unprovoked and happen on the first officer they see.
What I do see here is a major problem with the saftey of the officers, a lack of caring by higher ups as to what happens to the staff at the jail, and officers left to fend for themselves in emergency situations.
Obviously, not all officers are the same, the same goes for the inmates. Not all inmates are the same. The inmates helped the officer in this case....... but the next time it happens, will that officer get the help needed by staff? It is a scary situation to think about for the officers working there.

i hope it was officer love because that b got on my last nerve while i was in there.people just don't realize that those officers in there be provoking a lot of that stuff.they be telling us that they are going to f us up, have us killed, or some of the female officers be fing around with the inmates.what makes it worse is that when you complain about the officers aint s done about it.the female officers are worse than the male ones.how in the world are you going to go from trying to f with us to threatening us.but this is what your tax $ are paying for.happy spending milwaukee.
When people are incarcerated most times they lose their minds and behave psychotic. They tend to place blame on the officers that are monitoring them instead of holding themselves accountable. Sorry that you are hoarding hatred in your heart...I hope you don't burn in hell. Make better choices and stay out of jail if you can't abide by the rules of the institution.....

i was in there for 4 1/2 months and had several run ins with officer Dickens, all of them on a good note,, she is a very well trained officer and a very kind person, and did'nt deserve what happened to her!!! I will say that the way the place is run now, compared to years ago is much more efficent, but, it is also alot more degrating for the inmates that are there. I could name several officers that i would of rather seen that happen to , but i won't,,( Miss Butler ),,, i was stripped down to my undershorts along with 10 other inmates on my way back from church becase they were looking for cigerretts,, that place is not PRISON it's the damn HOUSE OF CORRECTIONS,, 90 percent of the people i met in there were there for DRUNK DRIVING or DRUGS,, on a good note ,, DICKENS,, i'm glad to hear your ok ,, and i'm also glad to hear there were some good people in there to help you,,, I would of messed him up myself if i was in your dorm,, but i was J2.

You are probably correct about that. However, doesn't it strike you as just slightly, somewhat, possibly,FOO OOOKing STOOOOOOOOOpid to hire female guards to deal with male prisoners or vice versa??? This country was formerly a Republic. We are going to "Politically Correct" ourselves to death.

It---IS---A---PRISON;and you don't have the keys.Surprisingly for a FAR RIGHT,law and order person,i have a different view of contraband. That is because i am Libertarian.I would allow smoking in the exercise yard as a reward for day to day good behavior(No smoking in the cell block, and pick up your own damn butts.Better yet, only Camel Unfiltereds allowed.)I would supply inmates with free pot(again in the exercise yard).Blunts for the smokers.Brownies for the nonsmokers.Maybe even free pizza.Dangerous contraband,i.e. certain drugs and all weapons.I would taser,spray,and/or beat your ass with a baton.Solitary,no TV,bread,water--------and polka music.I like a nice, quiet, tidy, civil prison.Don't care if the muchies make for a somewhat obese prison population.Happy, phat inmates instead of buffed up and angry would definitely calm things down.

are you serious.how in the hell are you going to tell me about my experience with the b***h guards in the house.you of all people should know that you b***hes get on a power kick because you probably don't have any power at the crib.that b***h f**ked with 1 of my guys while i was there and if you dissed her she made your life a living hell in the house.sheriff clark needs to invesigate all his staff.

As a former Officer I would first like to say, Dickens,I hope you have a quick recovery and that this doesn't veer you away from the job. I have read some of these comments and I agree with some but truly disagree with Red Robinhood. You must have been a REAL GEM while you were in. Do the job for 1 year, you wouldn't last. Your ignorance show's in your comments. Get a life, get a job, get some sense. I commend the the Men who came to the aid of Officer Dickens. I agree not all inmates are bad people. Only a few, make it worse for all. We're all human, God created us equal, for some well there is no hope. For the men that stepped up and did what they did I believe that at least something should be done for them. Hell the pretty much save Officer Dickens from further harm. Wake up Clark, how many more assult's do you need on your watch. Its time to go,thats great your trying to do good for the county but what about your Officers???? HELP THEM-PROTECT THEM. Dicken's hang in there.

yes i did spend time in the house and the funny thing is that you don't know why.officer love was out of order most and even after complaining and telling what i have seen and heard there was nothing done.there was no investigation and no action taken.what needs to happen is internal affairs need to send someone inside to watch how the female officers act with the male inmates and people need to stop making excuses for that b***h.

what happened when you complained or if you complained.not shit.those officers protect their own meaning that no matter what you said nothing would happen to them but something would happen to you.
