Does anyone know anything about our fire department and why they cant lower the insurance rating. Its kinda strange. Belews Creek had a lower rating than our on FD. Why is that? Someone please tell me that. Why do we not have paid people? Why is there no respect for the command staff? Why don't Holmer do something with the fire department like he did with the police department. Everyone needs to know what is going on with the tax money. Last it was told is that the firefighters are getting paid 5.00$ per call. Is this true? If so why are they not using this money to have a paid staff there or is the chief to dumb to do that since he has no certifications. Tell you what. Ask Nick Golden about that place he will be glad to tell you. I would like to hear more if anyone has anything please tell.

I think you need to get your facts straight before you name names on here. The Fire Dept has an audit each year and it is open to the public to see. go take a look at it. Yeah there are problems with the fire dept. Name me one dept that does not have a few problems.

You are right. They do have an audit each year. They just had one that the state did called a DOI inspection that they almost failed. Wait actually they did fail it because there was no contract on file with the town. Thank god that the fire dept actually signed it so everyone would not have to pay more on insurance. Also my facts are straight, see I am a member of this fire dept and see all that goes on. Maybe more people in the town and the fire dept need to start asking questions. The only problem with that is no one can answer them and when they do answer them, it's not the truth. Just sit back and watch. Hopefully we can get some changes at the next meeting and help out the people in the fire district. Also my facts are correct. The fire chief and one asst chief holds no certification for anything. The other asst chief is a EMT only. So now you tell me how they run that fire station without having a certified firefighter as one of the command staff.

It seems to me like Walnut Cove has its fair share of people who know everything but do nothing. Maybe these all knowing people should step up and fix the problems they keep b!tching about.

I think that one member or should I say former member Nick Golden tried to do something about it and they kicked him out. You see there are certain member at this station that are just to cause problems. Anytime someone stands up for what is right the chief and his followers kick them out. Thats is why most people keep to them selves. Some are there for the reason of having power, some for helping others and some are just there. So you see ANN anytime someone tries to change things they will get kicked out. If you don't believe me just ask some of the members. You tell me, look at Nick Golden. He is a pofessional, state instructor and holds alot of respect by his fellow firefighter. Why would you want to loose a member like that? All I can say for me is I like running calls and like being in Walnut Cove, but if things don't change soon I know I am going to quit the fire dept before someone get hurt or killed. Maybe more people in the fire district should start asking questions.

Well I guess tonight is the big night at the fire dept. Will we get new officers or will the same OLD one stay in. I find it kinda funny that the chief would call an officers meeting the day before the election. Makes you wonder is he up to no good or just thanking the officers for the good job that they have done. I know I will be at the meeting tonight and cant wait to see what happens. Stay tuned to see what happens.

The members of that Fire Department don't have a hair on their balls if they don't send Barry Conaway packing. They won't vote him out though. Barry and his cheating wife run the place, and there's no way the membership will stand up to him. THat place might as well be an Elks Lodge. It's nothing more than a social club, and it's nowhere near a fire department.

I think the one that people really need to look at is Tommy Ball. He has been the chief for two years and has done nothing to improve the fire department. Sure Barry runs things there and yes his wife has her hands in everything including the money, but the big picture is the chief. Here is a man that will cuss his own firefighters out on the scene and then ask them to back him up. He can't stand up for anything unless he has someone to back him up. Your right it is just a club. The thing that gets me the most is there is about $290,000 just sitting in the bank. Well it was about three months ago when a board member told me. Who knows how much is in there now. I find it kinda funny that the chief is the one that gets to work on our trucks. Some way or some how there is always something wrong with them. GO FIGURE. Well I guess we shall see what happens tonight.

BREAKING NEWS........ No changes to the command staff. Looks like the town is in for the same back stabbing crew that they have always had. To respond to your statement, Yes I was at the station and no I really didnt care to have any position. That place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Take this. Chief Ball no certifications, Asst. Chief Conaway, no certifications, Asst. Chief Hughes, WOW he has some, he is a EMT, Capt.Ball, we have another winner, Hell she is the only one that has it all firefighter 1&2 and EMT. Fire Capt. Johnson, no certifications, Fire Capt. Turbyfield, no certifications, Fire Lt.Lovette, no certifications, Fire Lt.Shelton, again no certifications, Rescue Lt. Conaway, Another winner, at least she does the right thing, Rescue Lt. Bullins, Hey another winner he is a EMT. Just take a look at the people calling the shots at the fire dept. DO you really want these people taking care of this fire district. Come on really. How can you be the FIRE CHIEF and not be a certified firefighter???????? Maybe this is why everything burns down and South Stokes or Salem Chapel or Pine Hall has to come save the day. I think everyone needs to get a scanner and start listening to the calls that 35 has. It's not hard to do. Most of the time you will hear. STOKES to any 35 officer, its been 5 minutes no responce, what do you advise. Now a good officer would say send the next in, but our highly trained officers say, "RE ALERT". Well if they didn't get up the first time do you really think they are the second time. It should be fun to see how this year works out.

I think Barry conaway really loves the Fire Dept and trying to help people. Why can't everyone just let him alone. maybe he did wrong, but who has'nt? Why can't all the Fire fighters just get along for the better of the Town they live in. Is there anything in Walnut cove that is not fair game to a few twisted minds who will believe what ever they want, true or not. I really feel sorry for them.

I think they will be More than okay with out you. What kind of certifications do you have or do you have any ? I dare say to you -"the one in the fire Dept" if you do not want to be there - then get out. Stop talking about people. Most of the people in the fire dept, are just trying to help others, I also know for sure what goes on there. Some of you need to grow up and stop this crap. That's all it is, people saying thing they know nothing about or you are just mad and want to cause a fuss.(And as for others who judge - you work a full time job, do things for your family -if you have time" and make sure you stay dressed at all times - so if that scanner goes off you are ready, then get ready for bed and the scanner goes off, and guess what - you got to work tomorrow -and if you are lucky you get a few hours sleep. I know- I know- and most of the ones there only do it to help others. And this is the thanks they get. What is the world comeing to when trying to help others gets you talked about. And there is so much going on in ths world and in this town, if more of you would put you mouth in other things - like helping people - now that would get you something. I am proud of all the ones that do this for the town, and do it because they want to help and to give to the town their time. So stop this anger thing. Act like you had a moma, and get over your petty self. And let others go and get the job done.........And DO not mention any more names in here or you may find yourself if court for it.
There are some good people down there who realy care about others...and I know this...for sure...And the town should be happy that they care. And stop all this child petty crap.

The reason Walnut Cove is a Joke is because of things like this that people read. This is our Town and despite what a few people write on here, most of us are proud of it and tired of all this crap. If some of you hate this town so much, move! I am sure the next town will be a much better fit for you! I don't understand why people are getting so mad. It is all the truth. I myself have been cussed out by Tommy many times. Now you say why do I still stay, well I enjoy helping people and to answer the question about the "5 minute, no responce", well I do not have a radio, and really don't want one. I think that it is time for people in the town to start asking questions. One big question is about the money. Everyone knows that MRS.CONAWAY controls the books, oh and her husband, Yes a board member can sign a check. As for Barry, leave him alone. He has paided his price and lost his job. Leave him alone at the fire dept. He is no threat to anyone. The one that you need to worry about is the CHIEF and his followers. Thw Walnut cove fire dept. is being run better now than it has in a long while. If people really knew what they were talking about they would know that in the last several months they have done a lot better. You have a few people that have grudges and want it their way , namely Alleys,Golden,Harger,Nowlin. They are responsible for all this BS, and everyone knows this. The fire dept, has a long way to go, but they have made inprovements and will continue to improve. Walnut cove will never be run like Winston Salem , nor should it be. Without common sense all the certifications in the world are not worth anything. Instead of bitchin and fussin help out. The people who are behind all this chatter have certifications but no common sense. period. The officers that are in the fire dept. at this time have made improvrements and will continue to improve if a few people will leave them alone. The chief must be doing something right , he was put back into office. These people are just jealous because they are not officers nor should they ever be. Kepp up the good work Tommy and Barry and all the other officers, the changes are being noticed. Dont pay any attention to these ignorant people.

walnut cove has a better response time than Salem chapel, ask some of Salem Chapels people about the Forsyth county fire marshal meeting with them in regards to their response time . The people complaining about walnut cove fire dept. give all volunteer fire firefighters a bad name , but the truth will always come out.

What a joke. If any of those folks had any dignity, they would resign and admit that their knowledge of fire doesn't extend much beyond the butane lighters that fire up their cigarettes. If my house in Walnut Cove caught on fire, I'd be better off using one hand to pee on it and the other hand to drink water as fast as I could go. Their intentions are good, but their board is inbred with current and former Fire Department members with no foresight and no real understanding of what is going on. Citizens of Walnut Cove should attend their Board meetings and see how it really is. If I lived in Walnut Cove, I would spend my dollars making contributions to the other local fire departments, because they're the ones who will respond to your call in the first place.

Could someone be a little Jealous? Enough already or are you trying to run off some of the Best Fire fighters you have?
