WHY...once again, they put this story in the CHICO paper online, and not a word about it in the OROVILLE paper online. Thanks again!

I personally think the name of the 17 year old punk should be printed also. He is a moron and needs the bad publicity. Of course some gang bangers do this sort of stuff just FOR the publicity. A few years ago a gang member had his picture on the front page of the newspaper and he received 'points' (according to rumor) for having his picture in the paper.

Feel better about yourself after saying such things about Oroville? I lived in Chico for 16 years. Trust me, you live in a place that hardly resembles it's former self. Just worry about Chico and the people you're stuck with from out of the area. Oroville is full of locals that know exactly what a diamond this place is.

Gee I hope nobody in Oroville was offended by the rude way the police used their lights and sirens when they apprehended these thugs(see today's letters to the editor.)

Good for you E R for heading the postings on this as wind turbines instead of trouble in Oroville. HUH?

Sorry for the inconveniences. I'm uploading the story to now and working to get the discussion headline changed.

We received the story late last night. We moved stuff around online to accommodate it, but there were some technical difficulties.

Again, my apologies. Thank you for your comments.

Here is my side of the story-

So we left the leadership meeting last Sunday and I was just toasted and had Wendi drive home so we would be optimally safe. Brian calls and wants me to go move a dresser, so we pick up the girls and head over to the Bor-in-laws. Halfway moving this solid wood dresser, Brian remembers that he has a furniture truck in the garage so I tell him to go get it! He runs inside like 20 seconds later and says "CALL 9-1-1!" and runs out. Tasha and I were like ????

The short of it is that their neighbors, a like 80 year old woman and about a 30-40 year old man were jumped and beat by two kids like 17 and 21 and my bro - on - law jumped in my van with wendi and the kids and took off to chase them down as they fled the scene.

I popped my head over the fence and saw a trailer with the two neighbors sitting in the doorway. The old lady's head was bobbing around like she was fainting and then the guy saw me and yelled for help. I jumped the fence and stopped for a second because I had NO IDEA what had just went on, they were about 65 feet away from me....

"Are there any weapons around you." I asked
"No, come help." He replied.
More specifically I asked "Is there any danger if I go over there?"
"No." He shook his head - it was truthful.

I run over and he is holding up the lady in the doorway to the trailer from laying down.
"Please help. I can't hold her, my arm- I think its broken."
The lady just looks like lethargic. I go inside and grab 2 couch cushions to brace her back and then one behind her incase she falls over back inside the trailer.
"I can't hold her up, can you help me?" The man echos again.

I wedge myself in between them and he is able to break away and half embrace the lady. She immediately looks up at me.
"They hit us with bats and shovels. My back I can't move it, it hurts."
I looked at the guy cause he had his shirt off and his back was beaten with marks. All I could think was that this poor lady's back was broken in half! I wasn't and didn't tell her "it was going to be ok" I could not make that call.

We have a couple more lines of discussion - basically I was trying to get her thinking up and going and to not phase out- she looked like she was going to stay conscious at this point.

"What's your name?" She asks.
"I am Jeff, I am your neighbor, 2 doors down."
She was shaking. Kept saying "Oh God, Oh God, Oh God."
I was praying in tongues just under breath -
"The paramedics are on their way, and I am praying for you."

Her shaking stop briefly as she turned and looked up at my face, she reached her other arm off the wall that braced her grabbed onto my arm bring me closer to keep her balance.

Her chant changed. "Thank you God, Thank You God, Thank You God."
And I kept praying. She seemed to calm a little and her head dropped down as she rested it on the side of my face. It was sweaty and warm and cold at the same time. Very discomforting for me. But I thought in her place that if I may be going to die, I would want someone there too.

A couple of minutes later a deputy sheriff arrived and 2 minutes after that CAL FIRE showed up. One of them I knew- my co-worker's husband. He looked at me with just a tad bit of surprise that I was there. Probably figured it was my grandma or something, and we briefly exchanged nods - I knew he had a job to do, and another fireman was able to take my place and safely lay the lady down onto a board...

The assailants were caught and identified.
Last I heard both the man and the older lady were in the hospital ok with no broken bones - Praise the Lord! I don't know if God healed them- I just told you what happened, you make the call. The moment that was the "money" was when that lady's chant shifted from a cry out to a prayer of thanks.

What uncomfortable place will you let God put you to further His kingdom? Will you let your life be interrupted for a possible God Calling?

Pray for the safety and peace of your neighbors, and of Oroville.
