<quoted text>What about them - I'm referring to the millions of people from Mexico that are here legally that are being subjected to unconstitutional searches and harrassment by AZ authorities because they look like they might be here illegally. Like those that support vigilantee style "justice", you fail to appreciate the rule of law as it is applied to those should be presumed innocent, rather than suspected of crimes because of their heritage.
Please show us where it is written in SB1070 that will do what you say it does.

Seem to me that you are the one that should exit, I feel right at home protecting our freedom and pursuit of happiness from those that with armed violence try to impose their self serving and self righteous views on others. Go build your sanitized police state somewhere else.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a respectable effort to read between the lines to realize that these policies are attempts by veiled racists to selectively enforce immigration statutes based upon ones appearance and heritage.

So, you're, "reading between the lines" and condemn us who read the lines?

And yet if you allow me assume to know what you're talking about, because that's all one can do when conversing with someone who, "reads between the lines"......If....law enforcement racially profiles or pulls someone over based on the suspicion that they are here illegally, THEY are breaking the law, and that REALLY IS IN SB1070.

It states that they can only check immigration status only after being stopped for another infraction or crime. This is something we all have to deal with when being detained. That they have to produce immigration papers is a FEDERAL LAW.

Now...if your contention is that nobody should be victims of 4th amendment abuses...we... you and I, are in complete agreement. And to go a step further, I'm of the opinion law enforcement routinely pushes that envelope constantly....

On that alone, that abhorrent abuse, makes me suspicious of any form of, "law enforcement".

Perhaps that's because the majority of those who illegally cross the border into Arizona are of Hispanic descent? You're right, it doesn't take a rocket scientist.
How would you like living in this environment http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/Arizon... ?

Read this and then check the constitution, which the present government isn't upholding.

So then you would advocate that it is alright to abuse the rights of a minority based upon the acts of the majority? Civil rights are for every individual, irrespective of their minority or majority affiliations.

This is what I initially posted a couple of months ago re this bill and I stand by it:

"The Constitution requires a law enforcement officer to have a reasonable suspicion of illegal activity in order to detain and question a suspect. For example if folks are standing around together at Home Depot this law will give the law enforcement agency the power to detain and question these folks, despite no visible illegal activity being undertaken. This law contradicts itself and says we won't consider you an illegal until we do consider you an illegal and you'd better show some ID. Doesn't say anything other than a "reasonable suspicion" is required to assume someone is an illegal - which will be based upon race. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but there's no way this law survives a 4th or 14th Amendment challenge by a legal citizen.

Problem is, I'm not in disagreement with everybody here calling me a "liberal" or "uneducated fool" that immigration needs reform, but there's gotta be a way to remedy illegal immigration w/o pissing all over our Constitution.

The relevant portion of the bill:

"A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not solely consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this subsection except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution. A person is presumed to not be an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States if the person provides to the law enforcement officer or agency any of the following:

1. A valid Arizona driver license.

2. A valid Arizona nonoperating identification license.

3. A valid tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification.

4. If the entity requires proof of legal presence in the United States before issuance, any valid United States federal, state or local government issued identification."

Why would any American rally behind SB1070?

It's an unconstitutional law written by the racist State of Arizona.

Not that they're, "standing around together at Home Depot".... that they're impeding traffic while at Home Depot. I'm white and born American, I guarantee you if I impede traffic I will have to provide some documentation when the law arrives.

Read SB1070, it doesn't state anywhere that stopping someone solely on race or even immigration status is lawful.

Actually, in this case the majority and the minority are the same.
Yes, Civil rights and the LAW are for every individual, irrespective of their minority or majority affiliations.

Because we "AMERICANS" actually care about our culture/values and we've paid for this country with our blood. We are tired of scum criminals who SNEAK into our country under the cover of night to steal our resources and leach upon our great nation like the cockroaches they are. Stop waving your pathetic flag on our soil. Learn ENGLISH and follow our laws while you are here. We already treat you better than you treat illegals in your own country and you still screw with us and complain how badly you are treated here. Have some pride and FIX your own country instead of coming here to live the lifestyle WE made for ourselves: you havent earned it by picking a few heads of lettuce. CLOSE THE BORDER. DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS. STOP ALL SOCIAL SERVICES TO ILLEGALS.
The tide is turning. Go back home while you still have some shred of dignity - soon we will be sending you back to Mexico with great fanfare as the USA celebrates cleaning you out of our country! Check the polls: Most of us don't want you here at all. Check the legislation: states are going to take away your anchor baby status. Leave now before we chase you out with a broom!
