This bill ... Now in a pushback led by the meat and poultry industries, state legislators across the country are introducing laws making it harder for animal welfare advocates to investigate cruelty and food safety cases.

Who's behind this bill? Follow the money. Lobbyists are paying off our politicians so the public is misinformed. For everyone's information - California cows are not happy cows.

I think a nice "pushback" would be to start handing out felony sentences to the corporate heads that try to poison our food (and medicine) supply.
It's funny how bad, bad china is working on fixing their system while greedy pigs and politicians (redundancy here?) work to ruin ours.

Unfortunately, many of these so-called "undercover" videos are made by anti-meat industy zealots who gain employment under false pretenses and sometimes perpetrate the violence themselves when there isn't any cruelty to video. I certainly woudn't want any of these deceptive creeps working for me.

The videos speak for themselves don't they?

Regardless of how the videographer gained access to make them....

Not the ones that are contrived... and some have been exposed for doing just that.

From the text...

"Some bills make it illegal to take photographs at a farming operation. Others make it a crime for someone such as an animal welfare advocate to lie on an application to get a job at a plant."

These restrictions seem perfectly reasonable to me. Who wants liars and spys working for them?

No one in their right mind, that's who... no matter what your business is.

Yes they are. What difference does that make? The companies in the video were planning selling beef in US markets, and were under US jurisdiction, and violated US law.

The people that filmed ACORN lied and lost in court.

"The recording, broadcast widely in the media, showed James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles posing as a pimp and prostitute, apparently trying to use federal housing funds to set up an underage sex ring.

The video set off a national political firestorm about government waste and led to Vera being fired from a job he loved.

Three years later, Vera, 43, is finally feeling some vindication with the settlement this week of a lawsuit against O’Keefe. The conservative activist has agreed to pay $100,000 to Vera and to express his regrets for pain and suffering to Vera and his family. Giles settled for $50,000 last summer, according to Vera’s attorney, Eugene Iredale."

If you don't like the COW videos sue them. That is your right.

That is what USDA inspectors are for. Violations are prosecuted.

PETA type spys with cameras have a predetermined agenda and are not to be trusted.

What does ACORN have to do with animal rights spys?

Is there a connection?

wrong. violations are not prosecuted, any pc dull-minded savant knows this. farm animals are sometimes protected, sometimes not, but in either case violations are hardly ever reported, let alone prosecuted. horribly abused and horrifically mistreated sentient and peaceful non-human animals are treated as mere commodities and nothing more. everybody knows this, whether or not one chooses confront this basic undeniable truth. factory farming is cruelty to animals. enough said.

Sorry HAC, no one cares about your sappy drivel or whether your particular expectations are being met.

Certainly no one that matters.

Farm animals are commodities. They aren't pets. Where does it say that sentient beings should live a pain free life? If you are opposed, don't support them by purchasing their products. I am opposed to how veal calves are treated therefore I don't buy veal. If you (or anybody else) is not opposed to how they are treated, who am I to say it is wrong? Without evidence that animals experiencing pain is "bad" or dangerous, your position is rather silly.

The connection was in the manner in which the tapes were made. The difference though, is that The Beef tapes clearly show a violation of the law, the ACORN tapes do not, since the person featured in the ACORN video immediately reported the incident to both police and his boss, and the 'videographers' failed to mention that.

The point in short is your hypocrisy. You have no problem with sneaky videos if you do not like the target but you whine like a little girl if the tables are turned.

Pretty sad.

Your pure ignorance? It is astounding!!!

Beijing's Fake-Goods Mall Going 'Upmarket'
China’s most famous fake goods shopping mall in Beijing is going upscale. But piracy will remain its chief tenant.

Fake drugs kill over 700,000 people every year - new report
The report highlights more shocking evidence, such as:
• Nearly half the drugs sold in Angola, Burundi, and the Congo are substandard
• About two thirds of artesunate (anti-malaria) drugs in Laos, Myanmar Cambodia and Vietnam contain insufficient active ingredient
• Most fake drugs originate from China and India.

Read the exchange again, slowly, I was getting at his hypocrisy the entire time. I never "lambasted him" for doing what I am doing.

If you think I did perhaps you can quote the part where I did that. LOL

Your opinion about ACORN is based largely on a videotape that itself was a lie.

Don't you feel kind of weird about that, or are you so devoid of logic that it poses no problem for you at all?
