RBUHS is facing significant financial challenges in the coming years. Steady, experienced members are needed to stay on track. Etzler is far more knowledgeable and experienced, especially financially, than any candidate in the race.

Etzler is a great community representative. He's willing to listen to concerns and stand up for kids even when attacked by unprofessional staff members.

Matt E is one of the few good school board members ive ever seen. He listens, does his homework and keeps his focus on kids. RB kids need him but could use some good help on this board

I can find very little information about the governing board member candidates.
Once again, it's going to come down to the few votes of the candidates' relatives, colleagues and acquaintances.
Virtually all citizens know nothing about these candidates and will either make an uninformed vote or will not vote at all.
This is not the way our voting system is supposed to work.

I totally agree. The one public candidate forum was thrown together at last minute by RB staff where only 3 candidates attended. I thought Daily News would do something. You would think there would be more attention to school board elections. Dont know how to get info on others but mattetzler.com has stuff on etzler.

I'm a college professor (mostly science and medicine). I begin my career as a medical scientist, however, I have devoted my life to education for quite a number of years now. Although i teaching credential is not necessary for college teacher (graduate education qualifies on for the job) I expanded my education by obtaining a credential for kindergarten to 12 grade. I believe education is a science and I prepared myself to be competent in my work.
My decision to run for the board is based in my believe our high school needs to became more academic oriented. We need to create a culture where our students will feel more confident to aim for higher education.
The job market of the future is different from the job market of past. By 2020 40% of the jobs in California will require college, we are not confident we will be able to produce 33%.
Unemployment in this recession has disproportionally affected those with high school education or less (15%). among those with a bachelor's degree unemployment is much lesser(4%)! Data from department of labor- all future recessions (and there is always one coming) are expected to follow similar patterns.
That is why I am running. I believe in Red Bluff. I believe in offering every student Equal opportunities. I believe that a better education reflects a better economy.
I hope I have answered your questions
