Yes your "people", just like you said "my ilk".
Oh, and you , think for yourself? that is totally funny I have never heard you say anything original at all, all you seem to do is quote right wing sources. Where is the thinking for yourself exactly?
<quoted text>
That is so ass backwards it is amazing that even you actually believe it.
Look at history, Tax rates have in fact been going down steadily since the 40's. We pay less now than we have in a generation.
These are simply facts. They are easy to look up and not disputable. The fact that you think the opposite has been happening is truly amazing. Your right wing sources who told you what you wanted to hear about Romney's chances instead of the truth, have also been lying to you about tax history, they report what they want you to think, not the truth. That should be obvious to even you by now.
Then sobeit.
Raise the taxes as much as you like.....and then own the consequences.
You and your ilk have made your position abundantly clear. However, unlike in the last election where you sidestepped responsibility for a very bad economy, you will own what happens from this next very bad economic decision.
I can't wait for the whining that will occur over the coming months unemployment numbers.....and then after your multi trillion dollar tax hikes going into effect?
it can only get worse.....and it will get worse......all on Obama's watch.

Sidestepped responsibility? Don't be an idiot. Your sides' problem was that your fake news sources could not convince enough people that the person who was president and whose policies were in place when the economy actually crashed was not responsible for the crash. You all tried to blame the bad economy on Obama but the majority of people were not stupid enough to fall for that bit of nonsense.

There won't be tax hikes for 98% of us unless the Republicans hold us hostage to defend the rich, and if they do they will pay the price.

I will bet you whatever you want that the economy continues to get better, with some ups and downs, over the next four years. In other words I bet that the economy will be in better shape when he leaves office than it was when he came in. And instead of being in a downward deathspiral like it was when Bush handed the job to him the trajectory will actually be positive.

and by the way.

65% of Americans Want to Tax the Rich

And more favor Obama on the fiscal cliff

The fiscal cliff talks may be stalled, but out in the real world, things seem to be shifting in favor of Obama.

65% of Americans now support a tax increase on incomes over $250,000, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

On top of that, 52% of Americans approve of how Obama's handling the fiscal cliff, according to Gallup – whereas only 27% are happy with how Republicans in Congress are dealing with it, according to Gallup.

When it comes to whom the public would blame, the numbers are virtually reversed. 53% would heap obloquy on Republicans, compared to 36% who'd blame the POTUS.

And in a blow to Norquist-pledged Republicans, 85% of the public have no time for his anti-tax pledge, while only 10% think it's the business.

Via Quinnipiac and Gallup.
http://politix.topix.com/homepage/3680-65-of-...

The best way to ensure a democratic majority in both houses in 2014 will be for the Republicans to hold 98% of Americans hostage in order to protect the super rich from a tax increase.

I say go for it republicans. Do us all a favor and commit political suicide. I dare you.

You are also the moron that has said repeatedly that public opinion does not necessarily preclude the law, or what is right or wrong especially in regard to economic policy.
after all, southern democrats were able to legally own slaves before the civil war based upon public opinion.

Obama and your ilk have won the public relations war on tax policy.
Now, let's see if it works out for our Country.
If it does not, the backlash will be fun to watch.

Exactly, and I still hold that opinion, what is right is not always popular. But I think you are missing my point.

The Republicans have a choice, they can concede and do what Obama (and most Americans) want and continue the tax rates for 98% of us and raise them for 2% of us, or they can stick to their guns and hold the 98% hostage, and in doing so, risk pissing off the voters and losing even more power.

It is a choice and public opinion is part of the equation. Sometimes it is worth it to stick to your principles even if their are consequences for that. Other times compromising and conceding a point in order to maintain some of your power to fight again later is the best bet. I am not a Republican. What do you think they should do.

You don't even know what my poltiical affiliation is...moron.
My opinion?
The repubs. who made the pledge will stick to their pledge...or face the wrath of the voters in their districts in the next election.
No deal.....and everyone will get a big tax hike.

I have made my personal opinion known on overall tax policy. High taxes on employers stifle job creation, and will inevitably hurt the middle class. The last four years have crushed the middle class....not through higher taxes, but rather from loss of jobs and purchasing power.
The middle class will be hit again either way.
If we go over the cliff?....higher taxes.
If we overtax the wealthy?...less jobs.

Politically, it is a win/win for Obama and your ilk.
For the middle class?....not so much.....it is a lose/lose.

Congrats.

btw....you have missed my point. IMHO, the ONLY effective, long term way out of our situation(hopelessly in debt), is what Romney proposed.....to grow our way out of debt.

The options available now with Obama and your ilk in charge are:
1. Higher taxes on the rich
2. higher taxes on everyone

Neither will work out in the long term, however, If EVERYONE pays more(over the cliff) perhaps people will realize what the problem really is:

Too much government spending.

I have already begun to prepare for what is coming. have you?

The problem is that morons like you dont understand that no business ever pays one penny in tax.......

The consumers pay it.....

When you tax the rich again they dont pay it........It is passed on to the consumers..........

Morons like you think it is a good idea to tax gasoline..........All that does is raise the price of everything you buy.......

And it hurts the poorest of the poor.....

But what do you expect from a moron that claims to know better what a person is thinking than the person themselves??

Face it. Even your own people, the intellectually honest ones anyway, are starting to realize that Obama is right, the country largely agrees with him, and Republicans will only hurt themselves it they hold up middle class tax cuts in order to protect rich people.
Bill Kristol contradicts himself daily!

What I don't understand is why folks like you insist that the owners of the companies pay the exorbitant wages out of their pockets but pass on the taxes to the ultimate consumer...???

Or who do you think pays the owners of the company so they can pay tens of millions of dollars per year to some greedy CEO...?
