I was in the car behind the pick-up that hit the young man on the motor cycle....I feel sympathy for the woman....(she will have to live with that the rest of her life)....I am sure that is horrible....
Any one of us could have been driving that truck....she made a left turn without using her signal not paying attention to the motor cycle....he never had a chance.....he was going too fast to stop...he never had a chance...my daughter and I thought the lady was going straight through the light instead she turned....the guy on the motor cycle probably thought she was straight too...
It was a totally senseless tragedy....
TOO many distractions and another death...
We all need to SLOW DOWN! Pay attention...use our signals and yield right of way....(In this case the truck driver failed to yield and never signaled)
I knew intantly he was dead....
It was too horrible!!!
I still shake thinking about it and I have totally lost my voice

i have heard from a witness on the scene that the woman that hit matt was heard to say "why bother, look at him, it's a waste of time" to the man performing cpr on him.

God Bless him...I still can't get the image out of my mind....If only the woman driving the truck had been paying attention

I also cant believe that she wasnt arrested on the spot for negligent homicide. A few years back there was another man killed on a motorcycle on Williams drive by Olde Oaks estates by a woman driver who just drove over him and never appied her brakes until after she had killed him, she was not charged with anything.
There seems to be such complacency for negligent drivers and drunk drivers in Georgetown.
Matt was a great young man. I knew him and he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He is sorely missed.

I did not know the young man on the motor cycle guy or the lady driving the truck...I do know she works for the city of Georgetown but I am afraid that is all I know about her. I don't know why she was not paying attention or why she never used her blinker but I can tell you I can not get the image out of my head!!! I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend. I feel like he was taken before his time. He was moving pretty fast....the lady in the truck for what ever reason was NOT paying attention. It happened very fast ....the light turned green as the motor cycle approached the intersection....we thought she was going straight all of a sudden she turned right in front of the young man...I was told that the young man's father is asking forgiveness for the driver of the truck....I am doing my best to respect those wishes....like I said I did not know either one of them I know her life will be changed by her actions....and his life is now over. We all need to pay attention to what we are doing when we drive. Remember your friend when you reach beside you to answer your cell phone and your driving. Remember him when you make a last minuet decision to make a left turn. Do not get behind the wheel after drinking. Remember your friend.
I am not sure what to say to console you. I am sure he did not experience pain. It was too quick.

I am ANGRY at the lady (christy sponsel)who was driving the truck she lives in my neighborhood and is going on with life like she did nothing she took someones life!! she needs to pay for it. I dont get why she is not in jail and facing the humility of what she did. it makes me sick to see her "free" partying outside and smoking, drinking like nothing has happend. i feel for the family of ther motorcyclist and am greatly disappointed in the fact that christy is still free. It really doesnt seem to bother her at all.

I do not know the lady AT ALL....I do know we were behind her...she was not paying attention she did not signal we thought she was going to go straight and I am sure the young man thought she was too... all of a sudden she turned left instead right in front of him...no way he could stop....We were able to stop right away and it took her about 20 feet to stop....he never had a chance....No one has ever called us from the police department or her insurance company....or from his family and apparently we were the only witnesses behind the driver of the truck...does she know people?

I have also wondered if she knows someone. Can anyone find out? I heard early on that she was married to an APD officer, but haven't been able to verify that.

I was a whitness to this accident first hand. I saw the whole thing close up. I gave a writen statement and while I was trying to write my statement one of the women's friends, who was also filling out a statement, kept trying to place a bias on my statement.

I am not even sure if the man even saw the accident, I personally believe that he didnt.

I even made an attempt to call the poliece department about this issue, and my calls were never returned. The officer was "not at his desk." and I guess even though I left my name and number and the information that I had more to say than I had previously put on my written statement....

She had NO turn signal! OMG I cannot believe that I didnt put it on there... I feel so much guilt for not includeing this in my written testimoney. I fear that this woman will get a way with killing this young man... this city is corrupt, I know that.

I wish I could see the woman face to face, just so I can tell her one more time "You killed that man."

Please do not feel too guilty...I think the guy who was trying to blame the young man on the motor cycle's name was Gilbert? Don't know him either but he did say he worked with the woman...she never turned on her hazard lights after the accident either…There
Are a lot of good people in Georgetown too…I think the officer was really trying

i'm glad to have found this group discussing the accident. it has been an extremely upsetting experience.

you can amend your previous statement by GOING TO the police station. it seems nothing will be done over the phone. i encourage you to do that and state that you felt that a "friend" of the driver was trying to influence your statement. and "so very sad" from cedar park should do the same if she feels that there is something more to add.

and unless the woman was obviously intoxicated or impaired in some way, it is considered an "accident" and she is allowed to leave. it is upsetting that someone sees her acting like this hasn't affected her. that along with the unverified and overheard statement she made at the scene (why bother, look at his head) makes her seem like a very callous person. who knows? none of us are living in her skin right now. i know we are all hurting. i think airing our feelings is helpful.

thank you. That is good advice, ti has been nearly impossible to erase the scene from my mind. There is never any closure to something like this.
