I'm about 60 years young. For a number of months I've been looking for a decent job in my field that has decent pay, decent treatment, and decent benefits. I'm not asking for the moon. I'm reliable, ethical, honest, and a hard worker. I could use the money to help pay bills.
Don't give me the "you're overqualified" excuse. Everyone knows AGE DISCRIMINATION exists!!!!!!!
Older people have experience and knowledge that young people lack. We can add a lot of quality to the workplace. We don't have to take off constantly because our child is sick.
Older people need money just as much as the younger folks. But we're not even given a chance.
I don't want to apply for food stamps. But, if I go much longer without work, I'll be forced to. Then the community will have to help support me because I tried very hard to get a job, but was NEVER given a chance because of my age.
What would you like me to do?

I understand this all too well. I am looking for a 2nd job to help support my family. I seem to be overlooked and passed over for teenagers. I am only 33 years old, and cannot seem to find anything. I get an interview, and never hear back. I go to these establishments only to find they hires some kid. I HAVE been forced to apply for food stamps, but what about the other bills??? I am going to lose my home soon.
