Hi, I am considering a move to Georgetown from Waco - tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about Georgetown! I want to hear it from the people who actually live there.

Yeah definitely say in Waco. If you want to move down to this area move into one of the other cities. Georgetown police are all about making the extra dollar and definitely do not represent the citizen. This happens everywhere but it is an especially big problem here.

Moved in here and have been wishing ever since that I backed out of the deal and moved somewhere else.

Gtown is a growing community populated by many retirees. It is for the most part quiet and safe -- especially west of 35. There are a few restaurants but little in the way of entertainment. But you are a short drive to Round Rock for the Express games and just a little more driving to Austin if you want to dabble in a night life. We've got a few golf courses and they are mostly public or semi-private. The police haven't harassed me as it appears to have done to the other posters so you can make up your own mind about that. I don't know Waco so I can't compare it to GT but I have lived in many places and GT is OK. Not the BEST but it is better than many other places that I have lived.

My family is planning on relocating to Texas from California. My brother and his family live in the Austin area.

Can you suggest a nice apartment complex ? Maybe in Round Rock or Georgetown?

Gtwn is great, depending on what you want! If you want nightlife and a party town, keep looking. If you want a quaint little place with a nice atmosphere for raising your kids, this is the best place around.
I moved here in 2003 from California and wouldn't go back in a million years.

Georgetown isn't that great considering the county it's located in. If you ever need help from higher ups, don't expect much. The police gave me back to my parents even though it was quite obvious I'd been abused. After a year of CPS putting me in homes they finally gave up and put me back. Stay in Waco.

I've lived in central tx most of my life...a few things...yes the cops are out in Williamson county but that's not a secret....if you haves lived here longer than a week you will hear don't drink and drive in Williamson county... Don't do this in ....etc. Take it for what it is... I have never had a problem and I am not an angel... I like them around it keeps things quiet for the most part.

Also g-town is great place to raise kids or retire...they have good community activities for both ages. There are a few new places to hang out if you don't want to drive to Austin...but really all the music and good entertainment is south it only takes 30-45 minutes.

one more Las Brisas was a great apartment in round rock...lived there for 2 years no issues.
you no what it is

There is no justice in Georgetown or Williamson cunty. Prosecutorial, judicial, and law enforcement misconduct are rampant. County government is a complete elitist system. The Sun City compound makes all the decisions. Officials whose corruption and misconduct are openly known regularly get re-elected. You don't have to have commited a crime to be charged with one in Williamson county. And if charged, you will be convicted, regardless of guilt or innocence.

I have lived here one year and I think GT is a great place to raise your family. Yes it is a slow paced but is is beautiful. I highly recommend it. I moved here from The Woodlands and my family is happy we did. Kids are at Georgetown High School and they feel safe and enjoy school. Sports are very important which I believe is a good thing.
