Reeves probably resigned instead of being fired. Sooner or later the truth will come out. The community deserves an answer! The more time Varney takes to tell the community the more rumors and speculation is made. Reeves was a personal friend of the Varney family which also causes conflict of interest.

Many questions still remain as to whether former police chief, Greg Reeves was fired or if he resigned from his position at the Georgetown Police Department.
Some residents in Georgetown told WKYT that they were surprised to hear that the long standing police chief was no longer employed by the city.
"He's been the police chief for a long time. It was very unexpected, so yeah it was just shocking to hear," says Melissa Golden, a Georgetown resident.
Reeves served as a police officer in Georgetown for more than twenty-five years. He has been the chief for the last eight years.
Mayor Everette Varney promoted Reeves to Chief of the Georgetown Police Department in 2004, "I would like to thank former police chief, Greg Reeves fr his many years of service to the city of Georgetown and wish him very well in any endeavor he may undertake in the future."
Varney adds,"I feel that the Georgetown Police Department needs to go in a different direction. As mayor of the City of Georgetown, it is my duty to make that change. And it my decision to make that change."
"I know him personally. I think he's a great man. And I hate it for his family," adds Golden.
Captain Scott Starnes and Captain Ronald Wagoner are now filling the leadership duties for the Georgetown Police Department until a new chief is named.
Mayor Varney tells 27 News First that the city is working to find a new police chief as soon as possible.

I take it that Greg Reeves wasnt well liked. Imagine that... I know his wife Agnes got caught stealing money from her job and only got a slap on the wrist by filing an Alfred Plea. Wonder if Greg stole some of that drug money from those 3 mexicans. I know the federal authorities took that case away from him. Kinda makes you wonder how he got that big house hes living in.<quoted text>
Not taking sides, just informing you that the drug money case involving the Mexicans you are referring to was a Federal case involving the DEA from the beginning. GPD was never involved until they were contacted by the DEA to assist with the actual bust. Also, there was more than "3 Mexicans" involved in the GPD bust.

KSP as well as FBI and the Attorney General have been called on the corruption here in Scott Co. So far, only a lone deputy has been implicated. There are more guilty; the public awaits...

Anybody in law enforcement that has broken the law needs to be prosecuted. A message has to be sent that nobody is above the law to include people who work in law enforcement.

Im guessing that you need no facts, typing skills or a brain for that matter to post on Topix. If this is what the Georgetown Police dept has to babysit on a daily basis its a wonder they dont shoot everyone or themselves. Oh my.
However I did like the post about alligator mouths and canary asses. I think that sums it up pretty well.

Please at least get your facts right if your gonna post. if you just wanna talk shit get a life and maybe even a job.:0

http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/Search_for... a closed meeting, Georgetown police met inside City Hall to discuss personnel matters, including the need for a new police chief.

Lt. Robert Swanigan, with Georgetown police tells WKYT that while the meeting was regularly scheduled, they did discuss filling the chief position.

Last Thursday, former chief Greg Reeves was relieved of his duties within the police department. Georgetown mayor, Everette Varney tells WKYT that he wants the police department to head in a new direction.

Swanigan says that applications have started to come for the position,"The mayor and his staff are dedicated to finding us a new police chief. We believe wholeheartedly that they are going to do an excellent job doing that to find the best candidate for this job. The men and women of this police department are going to get behind that person, whoever that may be and do the job that we've been hired to do."

Georgetown police feel confident that the safety of the public is not being compromised because of the staffing changes, "I've been here 20 years and this department has been through seven chiefs of police in that time. We're going to continue moving forward. We have a job to do and we're going to do it to the best of our ability," adds Swanigan...

Greg and Agnes are partners in crime. They both beat the system unfortunately. They would look good in matching orange jumpsuits!
