My Mother lives in Scroggins Park and is disabled. She has a two bedroom because her doctor said she needs someone with her sometimes. They have written down the license plates of everyone that comes to visit her and have threatened to have use towed. They even went as far as described family members and friends who have been at her apartment and complained about her having company. They have given her an ultimatum. She can either move, or go to an one bedroom and my brother and nephew will be banned from the property. No clue why they have decided that my brother and 2 year old nephew are not allowed on the property. These people have hassled her ever since she moved in there. She has been trying to find a place to move to, but was now forced to. There is a difference between the people that need the help and the ones that don't want to help themselves. I grew up in Scroggins and we were finally able to move out. Now I am an adult and I am one of the taxpayers that you all are speaking of. Just once I wish all the people who think they are high and mighty could be forced to live like that for one month. Be one of the people that are fighting to get out. Not everyone is working the system and the housing is a crooked as it gets. It isn't about helping people or having a place to live. They like to dictate the people's lives and control them. I know there is going to be someone to get on here and run their mouth, but it's fine. You can hide behind your computer and act better then everyone.
thank you so much im glad to see someone undertands that wrkin hard to get outta here doesnt make you a bad person an that we arent jus workin the system to lay around all day an do nothing . as far as my computer and internet dnt have either so keep hatin im gunna hold my head up wrk my butt off an get my kids outta here

WOW! What a firestorm! You know, its been 12 years since I worked for the GHA. Longer since I lived there. Reading comments from FEELTHELOVE and others made me think, so I called up a friend who works for the Authority in a different city but left GHA a couple years ago. Guess what I found out? She left because she couldn't take the racists attitude (towards whites), the f&&k the resident attitudes the new hires seemed to possess. She said the maintenance men abuse their power and simply don't care if things get done or not.

She also told me that the straw that broke it for her was a resident with 3 children had been sick with strep. She knew this woman and she was very clean, but had been sick and unable to keep up with everyday stuff. Maint came to replace the filters for winter and reported that the kids and house were gross. My friend knew the circumstances and explained but was brushed off. They said they didn't care -- it's no reason to live like a pig. She was gone. And so was my friend.

So, when I was there most of us tried to do what we could. Not all, but most of us. I guess now -- well, I'm sorry. A few years does make a huge difference. I wish you all the best of luck. I made it out, and so can you.

Does anyone know what the deal is with who the mayor is appointing to head GHA? I forgot to get the paper that had the story in it. We have now found out that the complaints on my mom have been coming from a woman that lives three apartments up from her. My cousin and her Dad we in my mom's front yard playing around and she came out of her house yelling at them saying they were saying stuff to her. You heard me correct, she was in the house and came out. This woman is friends with the woman that is over the housing right now. Go figure. My mom told some of her other neighbors about what happened and they said they have never had any issues with her. According to the other woman my disabled mother has parties all the time. I don't guess we are allowed to get together and have dinner with my mom or it will be called a party.

The director is brenda valentine. She also has a history from the state she had to leave before running that racist filled place now. She is trouble. Residents need to call HUD in Louisville and the attorney generals office

Get off of your high horse and come down to reality. AND the reality IS that some people need help. Isn't that what we're supposed to do, help each other? That's what's lacking in humanity anyhow. I know that there are some people that try to get all they can without doing anything for it. Doesn't sound like she is one of them.

As for the computer comment. I do believe that she said she is going to SCHOOL!!!! I am a college student, myself and let me tell you, It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to take college courses if you don't have internet access. Unless you want to sit on campus all evening using their computers, and I also believe she said she has KIDS, so maybe sitting at school ALL day isn't an option. SO, with that said I'm SURE that the little bit of money she is paying for internet is WELL worth is because it. It will help her in the long run when she has a degree and is working and can remove herself from the group of people that you are stereotyping.

Is Valentine-Jackson out too? I heard the latest inspector in gone as of Friday (7/30). I just wish they would get the workings back in order, like when it was under Mayor Varney. This is really going to hurt Ms. Tingle-Sams campaign run since she hired Valentine-Jackson to fix the problems done there.

Black or White should not even matter. Everyone that is HEALTHY should get up off their butts and get a job! It is too easy in America to draw food stamps, and welfare.

if you think your mayor karen tingle sams is going to do anything that would help the people of georgetown you better think again !!! she is useless as tits on a boar hog if ya know what i mean !!! all she worrys about is her and her familys well being !! and as for gha everybody that works there is piss poor ! and for the ones that down scroggins , not everyone that lives there is a useless pillhead , i get how u feel there is a lot of deadbeat pill poppers but there is also a lot of good people that are just trying to have a decent home with a limited income or none at all with the economy the way it is !!

You know there are a lot of people who live in housing that don't work or make an effort to do so. There are also a lot of people who live in housing that work and don't report their income. YOU WILL GET CAUGHT. Pay attention to the paperwork they hand out when it is time for you to come in for your yearly update. And last but not least there are a LOT of residents who work every day and still manage to keep their houses clean and take good care of their children and do what they have to do to survive while paying a large amount of their income for rent while living in public housing. You can't fault people who live in public housing. There is a large amount of fraud and waste going on in every goverment program available to the poor. It is a means of survival. Though not always legal it is always going to be. I think that there needs to be a more thorough approach to the process you have to take to get into public housing. One landlord reference is most certainly not enough. Also congress need to enact policies regarding drug usage such as testing without notice. Your employer does it. Why not your landlord if you are residing in government housing? If you can afford to buy drugs while residing in any type of subsidized housing whether it be public housing or Sec. 8 then you can afford to live somewhere else without the subsidy. Those of you that live in housing and sell drugs. Too bad you live in G-Town since the cops here don't give a damn what happens in public housing. Get off your ASS and get a job even if it is to mow yards, rake leaves or shovel snow. You do have people that work there that care and can make a difference. Just give them a little more time and you will see. There are changes in the works.
