Georgetown lawyer attacks Gormley's family court

There are 316 comments on the Kentucky.com story from Nov 2, 2007, titled Georgetown lawyer attacks Gormley's family court. In it, Kentucky.com reports that:

“If that was the case, then you would recuse yourself from over 50 percent of the cases.”

A family court race for a recently created judgeship is gearing up to be among the most contentious races this election.

Judge Tamra Gormley was appointed in May to the bench in the 14th Judicial District, which consists of Bourbon, Scott and Woodford counties. Her opponent is Neil Duncliffe, a Georgetown lawyer.

Gormley's campaign ads note that she holds family court in a smaller courtroom 'so private family matters are not aired before a public audience.'

That's precisely the problem, her critics say. Although adoption and juvenile cases are closed to the public, Duncliffe said 'courts otherwise are public because public courts are accountable to people who they serve.' Read more

This judge appears to one of MANY male and female feminist crusaders who hate men and have created an Affirmative Action program for women in the "Family Courts". She is, by no means, the only one. And, of course, all of their "compassion" for women is grounded in their "concern for the children".

You must realize that these judicial tyrants are cut from the same cloth as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. They do not care what you think or what the actual facts are, they will impose THEIR will upon you, in accordance with their condescending, liberal world view. That is why we must begin to take our nation back and restore sanity and legal equality between men and women. If this judge is removed, that will be a good start!

I think Judge Gormley is a very good judge and her focus is 100% on the children.. I was in front of her this year seeking custody of my infant cousin and she really worked with the mother more than I would her intention was mother/baby reuniting..She was a very very nice judge and in my eyes she could have been a little harder on these dead beat parents... I believe alot of these complaints on this site are just anger because things didn't go your way in court....
Ofcourse you do because you got what you wanted... You say tomatoe, I say tomato... I can assure you if even 5% of these complaints are due to the same reason I am complaining or have complained, Judge Gormley is not doing her job correctly. I have heard she really sticks it to people that have to do with abuse against children or spousal abuse but she looks at all men with those same eyes. She does not differentiate between any of them. They are all dead beat in her eyes and she is biased. She does not follow statutes or laws. And if you read, most of the postings are about divorce, custody, and the judge being biased on her decision making and rulings dealing with those issues. That is where she is not being fair. There are not really any complaints about her sticking it to someone that abuses kids or some man or WOMAN, that can't keep their hands to themselves, on here. A few randoms here and there.

The sad part is people are scared to stand up and do the right thing myself included. We you see first hand how this Judge acts and you still have to face her in the future I dont want to make waves with her. I have a young child that is at stake. After my case is setteled and custody is in writing. I would feel my child is safer then filing a claim wont be so dangerous to my child.

I was calling around yesterday looking for a new attorney, my has done me wrong once again, and I had three different attorneys tell me that they are no longer taking family law cases in Scott County simply because Judge Gormley. Each one of them said that they do not want to subject themselves to that treatment. Evidently she's no better to the male attorneys. I hope they hurry up and get her off the bench, sad when you can barely get a attorney to represent you.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and are quite blissful in your ignorance--I am slightly envious as we have not had "bliss" in three years. Because Gormley was unable or unwilling to make a ruling in our case, we had to file a petition for adoption to get our case out of her Court. Here we are three years later and now finally getting custody (thank God!). Of course, it was tricky and I am not certain if our own attorneys knew what I was up to (I think they did, but not certain), but now I have managed to salvage a potential loss in Court over the very spirit and future of a child and am documenting not more than a little unethical behavior and possible corruption within the local system.

All of these posts are not just "sour grapes". Admittedly, there may be a few, but I had to hear this inept Judge for nearly two years and when the opposition shows up addicted and high and argues with the Judge and yet same Judge does nothing??? How about ordering an immediate drug test? When you learn that the opposition is engaging in destructive behavior that can harm themselves, others and even the child involved, and yet you do nothing??? How about an injunction? No, there is ineptitude and there is corruption and padding pockets by dragging things out despite the damage being currently created. When you have a refusal to provide discovery despite all requests and yet do nothing???

I'll end with this...When you obtain, document and witness what we have, then you get back to us in this forum and we'll discuss it further. Until then, I would suggest you do some homework, maybe attend multiple public hearings, etc. and you'll see the "bigger picture". In the meantime, I hope that Gormley is DONE as a Judge. She needs to just bag groceries somewhere if she wants to be of assistance to the community!

Judge Gormley does not have the welfare of children in mind...only the welfare of mothers with young children. I have had joint custody of my children their entire life. I dropped my children off to their mother once and her boyfriend was obviously high and made threats to me and another minor in my care. The Geo. Police did a welfair check where the boyfriend admitted to using around my children and admitted that he,infact, was high at the time. A EPO was denied by Gormly and in court she would not even let the Police testify to what the boyfriend admitted. She asked my ex what happened, listened to her story, the told me and my attorney she had heard enough from the mother. The very thing Gormly claims to fight she allows as long as it is suitable to the mother, or maybe you have to be a certain mother. If she knows your family, your set! What a protecting Judge!

I have had the dredded day in this Ladies Court room. I didn't like her 50/50 timeshare. It is hard on the kids. And courts are supposed look out
for the little ones. Not the mom or the dad. But I
can't say she did it for money or anything like that. I think she did what she felt was right. However the kids are suffering. There's no structure in their lives. Their schedule is out the window. And school work could suffer greatly
due to lack of proper rest. Vacation well looks like they won't be having such a thing sence they
will have to be back in time for one parent or the other. So what do you do? Pray and hope for the best. As my kids put it. She hate's this. "I am here and then I'm there. I don't get time to be amywhere." Out of the mouth of Babe's is when we all should listen. God Bless you Judge Gromley. And in prayer you may find the answers you are looking for.

Well, Fran, the things that are worrying you are some of the reasons why parents should honor their wedding vows and not divorce. Yes, your children are going to suffer because their Mom and Dad couldn't get their act together. That is a totally separate issue from the fairness of the judge. If you are sincerely concerned about the 50/50 timeshare, you could offer to let the childrens' Dad have 100% custody so they can have some consistency in their lives. Are you willing to do that for the children?

Really? And you are a typical woman. You can only see YOUR side of the issue. And the only person you care about is obvious from your name...you always think about "meee" first.

NO NO NO!!!! LOL. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she's finally getting a little of what she deserves, she should be disbarred completely, but I was supposed to FINALLY get my day in court tomorrow...errr today now! I've been trying since May to get my child support lowered, when that so called judge issued that order against all Toyota employees. When the order was lifted, the ex's attorney got the date postponed 3 times and now this! Couldn't they have waited til next week. LOL. Seriously though, I'm really glad that she's being showen that she's not God. I wonder if they will be able to get someone to fill in on such short notice, or if I will be put off once again.
I'm making $40-$50k less this year than I normally do and I can't seem to get my support lowered. Plus I have to pay more to get it refiled everytime it's put off. It's really putting a strain on us, especailly with the holidays here, going to be a low budget Christmas this year. I really think something needs to be done about the way support is calculated, it should not be based on overtime and bonuses. As everyone has seen this year, those things are not garunteed.
