I'll start:

Ms. Putty dresses well and is attractive. She projects confidence.
There are new members on the school board.
Staff of Southern love their principal and demonstrate school pride.
Staff are leaving the district which will free up money for other projects.
Haven't heard anything negative regarding investigations.

Your turn to list the positives about SCSs:

Still waiting to hear the positives? Hoping to focus on the strengths of our district. Lack of responses to the request for positives certainly sends a message.

Positives: Some of our schools did well on the KPREP. Eastern carried the district. Way to go, Eastern!

There are some teachers who really know what they are doing and are tireless in their efforts and hours put in.

See- that is what I was saying earlier. You just had to throw in the last sentence. NEGATIVE!!!!

Their high scores are awesome. The positive media attention on Eastern Elementary School brought so much joy. In spite of the challenges schools face, staff at Eastern exceeded expectations!

Good point, I agree. Drive by schools after hours and on weekends. The cars in the parking lots primarily belong to teachers!!!! Also, I realize that almost every teacher takes school work home.

OK, how many non-negative comments do you find in forums where our school district is discussed? Am I the only individual who expresses negative views? At least give me credit for my attempt to start a discussion focusing on positive aspects of our schools and leaders.-- I try to be supportive of comments made in other discussions related to our schools & staff, I admit when I'm wrong and strongly support teachers, custodians, maintenance staff and bus drivers. If an individual is totally positive about everything, I suspect they either are delusional or taking some powerful drugs!!!!

Regarding negative comments made about our schools in other discussions, I believe these individuals are wanting to be heard and believe that Topix is the only means to express their opinions. Most likely, those of us who express concerns on Topix have had negative experiences interacting with school staff in the past or are fearful of expressing their views & suggestions to administrators.

In another discussion/forum there was a suggestion that the district develop programs for non-English speaking parents (thought such a program was available in adult Ed). In all reality, do you think the individual who made that suggestion would have the strength of character to address the school board regarding their concern? Do you believe that those who expressed concerns about Ms. Putty's raise would feel comfortable talking about the issue with the super. or the board?-- Of course they wouldn't. For many, Topix is the only source that allows people to express their concerns and to obtain feedback.-- Would you watch or listen to the news if they only reported happy stories? During the presidential debates, did candidates only focus on the positive aspects of their opponent? Honest, criticism promotes change. You should feel happy that folks care enough about our schools to make comments.

It took 21 hours for anyone to respond to a request regarding positives about out schools and leadership.

You responded only after a negative comment was made! Do you understand the strategy?

The one negative comment riled you enough to say something. Unfortunately you criticized me rather than responding to my request for positive comments. I do care about our school and want good leadership.

Steve, you have one thing right. Some of us can only express our opinions about the school issues on Topix. Some of us can't afford to lose our paycheck.

Way to go! A child in my neighborhood is in the band. He loves the program and I believe his participation has improved his attitude and investment in continuing his education!!!

Have visited your school and kids in my neighborhood attend RSMS. Your school atmosphere and staff create a warm, inviting environment for parents and community members. Thank you for putting forth the effort to do so. If a parent has a concern, you listen and problem solve collaboratively.

The kids who live near by have nothing but praise for RSMS, teachers and programs. Your approach to discipline seems proactive & fair. Have never heard a complaint from parents or kids. Neighborhood kids have attempted to explain how the academic program works, but it's kind of complicated. Whatever your teachers are doing works. The RSMS students I know are enthused about learning and seem to have positive relationships with teachers. One young man (who is an A+ student) loves to share stories about his teachers. He comments that teacher are fun or sometimes funny; that some teachers are "kind of strict, but fair". RSMS staff really have a special connection with students, which in turn facilitates learning.

RSMS does set an excellent example.
Go RSMS!!!!!

Now Jack, check out my input in other school related forums....at least the one's that the district allows to be published....do you really think that Putty would invest time in focusing on the positives of the district......no, she's too busy cleaning up the mess she made at C.O. and trying to cover her ever expanding ass! And if I was Putty, would I be talking about my own implants and lecturing myself about ineptitude? Would I be responding in Spanish to salacious comments made by los chicos about my melons?

Given all the negative PR our district is getting....well, it's just not fair to throw teachers & school staff under the bus. CO staff should be responsible for the wrongdoings they've committed. School principal, teachers and support staff are either victims or innocent bystanders. They continue to do an excellent job in spite of the drama at CO.

OH SHIT.... Now the negativity monitor is going to come after me and give me those little lemon ratings!!! To my negativity monitor, hope those lemons make your lips pucker so that you can kiss my.....never mind. Sorry, rough day.
