What amazes me is how the News Graphic reports this story. No mention of it online at all. An article in ther paper where they blame the road sensors. Gee, could it be that we have 50 percent less lanes? Kitty Dougood who works for the city says we should all patient and that its a good thing. Meanwhile she lives on Main Street and works I believe 3 blocks from her house. She never even has to get in her car to go to work. But us poor dumb suckers get stuck in traffic.

San Francisco has decreased the lanes on 40 of their roads for the past several years with a lot of positives. Why would they change 40 roadways if this was bad? Your problems with standstills are directly related to the timing of traffic lights. The timing of traffic lights is directly related to traffic studies on current roadway conditions. The timing cannot be perfected until the roadway is complete and a traffic study can be conducted. Patience is a virtue. Sorry, but everything you said is just a big stack of shit-level stupidity.

I can probly speak for most when I say, who gives a rat's a** about what San Fransisco is doing here?? you do realize that the state SF resides in is completely bankrupt, do you not? its called government WASTE. In short, thats a bad analogy. 2. oh right.....it makes sense to screw the road up and THEN do the study,:P. Some good people have lost their lives because of your BS "study." And its going to create a new set of problems, and a new wave of road rage. It will also enourage more bikers to ride on Broadway(which has always been dangerous in my opinion, allowing a 15 mph device on the same congested roadway as motorized vehicles.) And this will INCREASE chances of bikers getting hit, not decrease them. People still have to turn INTO the biker lanes to get to places along the road. That danger will be there no matter what, and with more bikers coming out, will increase.

Could it be that you are trying to pawn off your mistake? BTW, I have a home in SFO so know you are incorrect. Hate to tell you but we are not the ignorant country bumpkins you think we are. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) has instituted 34 road diets since the city's Transit First policy was adopted in 1973, a number that is expected to grow once the bicycle injunction is lifted and new bike lanes are striped

It seems to me that someone got this all wrong. If you need to slow down the traffic it is alot cheaper to CHANGE A SPEED LIMIT SIGN they cost about $16.00 each. Then proceed with fourcing the City Employees to enforce it (City Police Department). They need to start doing their job anyway. We have vehicles being operated in the city limits with expired tags and nothing gets done, people running stop signs daily and automobiles being broken into every day. The biggest thing that I see we need done is to get all of the Police cars repaired that sit at Tackets Auto and put officers in them and get them out doing their jobs that we as tax payers pay for.

I've driven thru G'town many times & never had a problem. It's funny that "get with it" said to let the engineers do their job. I read on Change Broadway Back that these are Lexington engineers. When they did their traffic study in a friend's neighborhood in Lex.(near a public school & UK) they did it over the weekend and placed two sensors improperly - where they wouldn't count cars. When asked, they didn't even know how the sensors worked. They also refused to put stop signs at a dangerous intersection because there've been no accidents there. Yet they'll come to your town to fix something that ain't broke - I guess there must be money in state road projects. You have my sympathy.

been to San Fran & other "car diet" cities many times. Hey folks, they've got buses, trollies, subways, cable cars, lots of taxies, etc.! Creating grid lock in G'town won't make people use alternative transportation as there isn't any. These things cost lots of money for a city & good luck getting any of this here. There wasn't a problem in G'town. When things make no sense you're usually not getting the whole story. Seems the case here.

I think the change is great! People turning left on Broadway were always a problem because they blocked a whole lane of thru traffic and caused accidents. Now they can be in their own turn lane and traffic can really keep moving.

The specific downtown businesses I frequented often were Fava's, SavALot, Galvin's and Fast Max. Instead, during the past week I have stopped at Speedway, Kroger, and Ruby Tuesday.

I go down Broadway all the time and hardly EVER saw any wrecks. As long as people pay attention, like they should anyways, turning left was never a problem. Now people have much less room to drive on(look at how far the bike lanes come out into the road). What really is infuriating was that this decision was made by people who dont even DRIVE on Broadway.

What they NEEDED to fix......was how SLOW the stop lights are at night time. absolutely ridiculous when theres hardly any traffic after 9: 00 PM. Yet you have to wait 3 or 4 minutes for the freakin light to change. And when a citizen gets fed up and finally turns left on red with no on-coming traffic....then THEY'RE the bad guy. Absolute rubbish, and a complete lack of common sense. Fix what is BROKEN, not what is fine.

The problem is 50% of the traffic lanes are gone, plain an simple. It's like trying to park 100 cars in a parking lot that just holds 50. A complete traffic nightmare has been created by this nonsense.

It amazes me that they made this stupid change on Broadway but Connector Rd near Cherry Blossom is still a nightmare and apparently nothing is going to be done about that. The number of wrecks there is much higher than on Broadway if I had to take a guess. Getting out of Cherry Blossom on any given day, any given time is a nightmare but when Toyota let out it's worse than my worst nightmare! Now you have The Mills that has just opened and all of that added traffic and no relief in sight. We are moving out of Cherry Blossom and this is one of our biggest reasons why. You have so many businesses along Connector Road and two lanes of traffic. Makes no sense at all!
