We should be so embarrassed. Our Rowan County friends get a laugh at our expense. This new school board better clean house. I'm so sick of this stuff.

Does anyone realize, Putty and the Board will not allow any type of first responder into the school for an assessment. Not even a safety check for any type of shooter possibilities.

Bullying I went to several people at the school board and superintendent Ms Staker Putty and several counselors Middle school and High school and got no where.Other than advised the only thing I should do is pull my child out and homeschool them and let the one who was bulling them continue on they just got in school dentetion.other than that they wasnt allowed to discuss it with me.I pulled my child out and my neighbor did also and homeschooled them.i did this twice giving them the chance to try again.got the same results.School didnt want to help at all.My child excelled and got the GED held a job as well and is in college has his CNA license and is now working in a nursing home and will return to college in Jan for new classed. No thanks to Putty or the rest except for Back on Track Program and CTBC

I realize. They can't allow anyone close that can expose how exposed our children and teachers are until they get a pretense in place. Then you will be invited in with great ballyhoo.

Sadly I must say the best thing about Scott County Schools is that I no longer have children in them.

I have to agree with you. The sad thing I have grand kids to start in a couple years. That worries me more than my kids.

Wanted to know more & found the source..... Ouch! And then Putty received great evaluation results and a renewed contract? In a previous comment by the queen herself (not making reference to the gender confused boys in administration) she has the audacity to make reference to the term "INEPTITUDE". Putty, you applied the term to "rid" the district of those you deemed inept. If you had the honesty to apply the concept without prejudice you would be packing up your office & taking a few of your sycophantic employees with you...you know, those folks you pay to stay by your side to pump up your overly inflated ego on a daily basis.

Moorehead News Quote 06/22/2012

"Today we are recognizing another winner of the Knucklehead Award and it goes to four members of the Scott County Board of Education. Those intrepid souls had the audacity to vote to award a yearly salary increase of nearly $20,000 to Supt. Patricia Putty when the district’s teachers, bus drivers, cooks, counselors, custodians and other employees are receiving no raises for the 2012-2013 school year. That decision bumped her pay from $127,260 to $147,000, a boost of about 15 percent. It appears the board members tried to camouflage the pay hike by lumping it into a list of so-called “consent” items which can be approved or rejected with a single vote. The single board member with the courage to vote against the raise rightly described it as a “public relations disaster.” The board chair said, however, that the superintendent’s contract required a pay raise and she had not received one for three years. It was pointed out that other board employees had gotten one percent increases in each of the three previous years but Supt. Putty had received only a single increase of one percent. Our calculator says the superintendent’s single increase was worth $1,272.60 while a cook or bus driver making $6,000 a year received a whopping boost of $60 that same year. Wow! Surely such a small disparity would not create a morale problem.
At this point, to be fair, we should point out that this is the same school board that decided to build a new elementary school despite overwhelming community support for a second high school. A community task force reportedly is trying to find money for a new high school. We suggest they start that search in the central office payroll."

You speak the truth. Why put our children at risk to protect the deficiencies of the district?

Heard that Putty will remain as superintendent. No illegal activities linked to her...unethical actions not considered serious enough to warrant firing her. Although she is highly unpopular & inept as a leader, we are stuck with her due to the school board's decision to renew her contract.

Let's make her earn that raise by speaking up at board meetings, by contacting news sources to ensure that her inadequacies are exposed. We are responsible for preventing her from doing more harm. Perhaps public input will prevent the board from renewing her contract & giving her a raise in the future. And, how do we prevent her from moving on to another school district or into a position with the Dept. of Ed.; where she will continue to have a negative impact on educators & children?

Evil prevails when good men (and women) do nothing.

School board was suppose to be balanced until Joanna, SAMs and Ward were seen outside of the School Board building wheeling and dealing. Then once inside, Joanna decided to back Ward for Chair, then Ward endorses Joanna for co-chair. Things that make you go Hmmm!

I guess she drank the knucklehead kool-aid after all. We can't win. I starting to think the kool-aid is green.
