Who is Mrs.Putty and how can she be contacted?I would love to give her a ear full about how they treated my son.The coaches aren't there to teach these kids they are there because it's a J.O.B.The parks and rec have better coaches then the ones there and these coaches don't get paid they are there for the kids and to teach them the fundamentals of baseball.
Mrs. Putty is the Superintendent. You need to contact her but also contact Covington and Howitt. Very important to get your point across to all three!

Please call/email and set up a meeting. I'm sorry for the way they treated your son. I know how it feels and I did go to Putty myself. Also met with HS staff. It's important you follow thru. Lets get this done this year parents!

I am sorry, I have very little belief that Putty, Covington or Howatt will do anything. It took 2 years of full time effort to get any to react to a problem we had. The coaching staff would have to do something illegal for them to make a move. We got Khsaa, Ethics board, and others. Our coach lied to Khsaa and was caught in the lie. The school was force to do something. But be prepared for intimidation from several school employees. They will deny it to the end. Howatt didn't even know until Khsaa got involved that he was responsible for sports.

My son did not make the school team and was looking forward to playing in the Babe Ruth league but it has been cancelled because enough kids did not sign up. I was told the middle school teams are responsible and that is a shame because they can't get coaches who know anything about baseball. Parents can't afford both and they think there kids have a better chance of making the high school team if they play in middle school. Sounds like the school program not only screws up the school kids but also the opportunity for other kids to play recreation baseball.

I feel sorry for all of your kids. You push them to the breeaking point so you can relive your failed lives through them. You morgage your houses to pay the fees and buy the equipment, not because you have too, but because you NEED to get that new bat, those new shoes, that new glove. Then you get to put stupid little stickers on your suv proclaiming how great YOU think your little meal ticket is. What happens when it doesn't work out? You blame the kid for not trying hard enough, you blame the coaching staff for not being good enoug, the school for not supporting it enough. It's never enough. The victim is your kids. Let them be kids and stop trying to make them carry the weight of your whole family. Your all ridiculous and pitiful.

You are pitiful...You can't possibly have kids and have no clue what you are talking about. Those "stupid little stickers" make our kids proud. We do that for them, not for us. As for the rest of your ridiculous rant, you are just an idiot. I would guess this is Josh Elder who has to post about everything. You are the miserable, ridiculous pitiful person, not the parents who are supporting our kids. Maybe your parents did all this to you and you are talking from experience. Then it's you who has the problem.

How is it the Middle Schools fault ? There seasons don't overlap.. All the middle schools can do is recommend that the kids play rec ball..The issue lies in all the AAU teams not school ball

Your funny. I do have kids, a son and a daughter, and they both quit playing during middle school because of people like you sapping the fun out of it. You stand on the sidelines screaming and yelling at your kids because they drop a ball or miss a pass. It happens, they get over it, but you can't. You sit around complaining about everyone elses kids getting more playing time, how unfair it is. This isn't about them it's about you. You try to push your candy bars and crap on everyone else so you dont have to pay for the fees to play. It's a game. A games. That's something you play not something you fight over.

I know, it’s not about winning and losing. My question then is what is it about? Is it about breaking down players to they don’t love the game. If that is so, then Coach Willard is doing a GRAND job.

I know most of these kids will never see a college ball field, so why not have fun in what you are doing. Teach them the fundamentals. Teach them how to be leaders.

Why play the head games.

My kid plays every game, I have no issues with playing time. It's the attitude of the coaches that is being discussed. We NEVER yell at our kids from the sidelines! If he makes a mistake on the field the coaches belittle them, not us. I don't EVER talk negative to my children about how they played a game. You do NOT know me so do NOT judge me. YOU are the one who sapped the fun out of sports by not letting your kids play. I do NOT EVER complain about anyone else's kids either. I praise each and every one of those kids whether they played a good game or not. I have NEVER sold candy bars or asked anyone to help raise money for baseball. I work every single pizza even required, plus some. I do whatever is required to earn money for this damn team and for what? To have my child treated like a piece of shit on the bottom of the coaches shoe! I pay for every dime that it costs for my kid to go to FL plus we pay for the damn coaches to go and get drunk as well. Playing time isn't an issue, fundraising isn't an issue, it's the treatment of the players by the coaches that is the issue. I could care less if they win or lose as long as they are having a great time out there playing...and they are NOT!!

I know life is not fair but what's unfair and should NOT be allowed is PARENT coaches at any level of public school games. It would stop 99 % of this if parents were not allowed anywhere but the bleachers. They are out there for ONE reason only !!!!!!!!! Their kid!..... Parent coaches of any sport in any public school should be banned. No good comes out of it. If they can't get qualified coaches or college volunteers, too bad. Take some of the overpriced salary we te taxpayers give the coaches and hire helpers .

When I was in school the coaches were teachers who had no ties to the team other than coaching. Seemed to be a lot of good programs then without favoritism and very little politics.

The coaches in SC don't deserve a dime! They are awful in every sense of the word. The shouldn't be paid at all because they sure don't earn it! A great coach should be paid well. These pieces of shit don't deserve a dime of our taxpayer money and sure don't deserve a trip to FL paid in full by the parents of the kids that they are "supposed" to be coaching, supervising, teaching a sport, not out drinking with the other coaches and going to bars when they are responsible for our young men!

If this is true, the HS coaches out drinking when they are supposed to be chaperoning, then they should be fired for a morals lapse. What if all you parents just refused to pay for the trip? It is ridiculous that they play out of state at all. If you want you kid to travel put him on a traveling team.

Last year in Florida coach Bowling got off the plane and drove up in a new mustang that he rented. We probably paid for that too.As much as we parents pay for our children to play baseball we should at least have some good coaches. Not many of these young men get to go to college for baseball because Willard will not promote college coaches to come watch instead he puts them off because he only wants certain kids to be scouted.I am hoping that someone is reading all this and looks into it because the principals, athletic department could careless what goes on they leave it to Coach Willard.

football coach does same thing... You see that's where their success is. They don't care about ur kids. But watch and see if he does the next few years with his son playing... How many scouts there are... But state wide, everyone knows football in sc does the same thing very time... No passing straight up the middle...

First of all i would like to say the boy who decided not to play his senior season is a great kid and a great player. It is a loss for our team. The player who was brought up to replace him is a freshman but should be a sophmore, he was held back in the 8th grade. he is probably the best choice for that position and has proved himself as a varsity player despite the fact his father is one of the coaches. if anyone knows this father-coach then you know he is harder o his child than all the others combined. My son is a JV player as a sophmore and has earned his place on the field. i go to most all of the varsity games and they DO have the best 9 on the field. Granted the varsity hasnt won many games this year but everyone needs to remember we play in one of the toughest regions in the state. These boys are great players and should have the support of their community. For the people complaining about Coach Willard just remember he can't get on the field and play the game for them!!!! The only thing I believe he should have done differently would be to cut more players from the team. He kept way too many players that don't have much baseball ability and some of them as a result don't see much time on the field. Their parents are some of the people always trying to cause trouble!!! I say if these people and their children are so miserable then when next season comes don't play!!! Disrict tournament starts Monday for the Varsity and I, as one parent on the team, will be there to support those boys who I've known since they played t-ball. They deserve our support!!! GO CARDS!!!

Parent of a player....Tracy course your going to say good things because your child gets playing time and coach Doug Saunders is your husband.Doug and Willard are good friends and that's why your son gets to play up.I am not saying anything bad about your child cause he is a good player but there is also talent sitting on the bench, but because their parent isn't stuck up the coaches butt then they don't get the playing time.If you remember in Florida Doug got mad because his son played only 4/7 so you all left early,I know this because I heard the comment that Doug was saying to Willard.Doug is hard on his son that's because he is only there for your son he pushes him and pushes him, why doesn't he do that to the other boys to get them mad and motivated so that they will be pumped for the game?Another thing Willard can get on the field and coach these boys better, it is a TEAM sport.Instead he wants to stand there with a grumpy look and expect the boys to do it by themselves.

You hit the nail right on the head on who wrote that and why he is playing. SC sports...it's all in who you know and who is up your a$$. Doug, Willard, McKee, Covington...they are a team out to defend themselves and F*** the rest of the players. They don't care what happens to any of the players. It's all about them and Doug's kid, of course. No one cares what happens to the rest of them. They don't get scouts to come watch our boys play. All the complains that have been made in the last couple weeks meant nothing. They did absolutely no good. I think you will have kids that will not play next year because they are tired of all the BS.
