He was 30 years old, and was shot by Christopher Dennis Jr., a 71 year old man. Who was Ruben Eppele? What happened in this situation? Just seems weird...

From Molly Haines of the Owenton News-Herald:

A 71-year-old Corinth man has been charged with murder after what Kentucky State Police say may have been a drug-related meeting.

Christopher Dennis Jr. was arrested Saturday morning after KSP troopers found the body of 30-year-old Ruben J. Eppele, of Georgetown, shot to death in Dennis’ home at 2430 Cull Pepper Lane Friday.

More than five pounds of marijuana were discovered at the home.

Dennis is also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and trafficking in marijuana (over five pounds), charge enhanced by possession of a firearm.

According to KSP Post 5 Public Affairs Officer Michael Webb, Dennis had a lengthy criminal record.

“He had been in and out of prison several times,” Webb said.“He has had previous drug-related charges and wanton endangerment. He hadn’t been out of prison but a few years.”

Dennis was taken to the Carroll County Detention Center. A $250,000 cash bond has been set.

So it's not Owen County, but Grant County.

Ruben was a guest in this man's house. The man had drugs there. Ruben HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT!
Ruben was drunk and made a comment to the man that he didn't like and he shot him in the side of the head in the kitchen!
HOW DARE YOU SAY RUBEN WAS BREAKING IN! I'd like for you to come say that to me, you piece of shit!!!

He was indeed there to steal from Dennis..he was a guest and when dennis went to another room and came back in he found Ruben going through his things. Should he have killed him? well no...but Ruben shouldnt been trying to steal either.

I don't get on Topix. I googled Ruben yesterday is how I found this!
I've known Ruben since he came to Kentucky 15 years ago!
Did you know Ruben?
I doubt it!
To be defending a killer makes you pathetic!
NO. I don't use drugs thank you very much!
Come on Indiana, did the killer say Ruben was robbing him? HE IS REALLY SOMEONE TO BE BELIEVED!
I'm sure you people are Topix addicts that I've heard of before. On here just to stir shit!
Good luck with such a pitiful existance.
Ruben had 3 little kids and a woman who loved him more than life. He was only 30 years old! HE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE...His killer does...I hope he rots in prison!
Dennis...Who gives a fuck about Dennis? NOT ME!
"Yea", your comment makes no sense...
It was all completely senseless and so is this discussion!

If ruben was such a great person then why was he at a known drug house? Reguardless if he was there to steal or to buy makes him scum...I doubt he was selling bibles door to door and just happen to come inside....

He should have thought about his wife and kids while he was there spending the familys money on dope.

I agree! Why was he even "visiting" a "drug house".. Doesn't even make any sense. He didn't deserve to be killed, but he shouldn't have been in a druggie house! Dangerous!

Ruben did not deserve to die. However, he was in fact trying to steal and got caught and that is why he was shot. This is a fact that will come out at trial.

Mr. Dennis would most likely not have been charged with murder had it not been a death as a result of a drug deal by a convicted felon in possession of a hand gun. Because he is a convict with a gun who is selling drugs, that allows the law to charge him with murder.

I feel bad for Ruben's family. Ruben wasn't a bad guy. He made a mistake and the guy caught him and made a bad sitaution worse.

To the son who said "So what if my daddy did drugs? Who doesn't do drugs these days?" The answer to you is, there are a lot of people who do not do drugs, and just because everyone is doing drugs does not make it right for someone like Ruben to be doing them.

The bottom line here is, Ruben was in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing, at the wrong time. Had he been at work or at home taking care of business, this would have never happened.

God bless Ruben and his family. Again, none of them deserve to be part of this.

Should have said 'did come out at trail.'

This case was resolved a few weeks ago when Dennis pled guilty to manslaughter and got a 10 year sentence. He'll serve about 6 years of that, at the mnost.

If this was a cold blooded murder and Ruben was not there for the wrong reasons trying to steal, no way they would have agreed to manslaughter. It would have been murder all the way.
