Wheels of Our Future Must Change

With the march of time comes progress those who not adjust & change to this progress do not grow & learn from those events that pass to become our history.
Flint, automotive industry must change
At of one of General Motors' remaining Genesee County factories, U.S. Sen. Obama warned Monday that the automotive industry & Flint must brace for dramatic changes to survive.
In order to compete for those jobs in a global economy, Obama said just before a visit to Flint Engine South on Monday that union workers have to realize that the automotive industry is not operating in a vacuum."
Unions have to be flexible and recognize we are in a period of global competition," he told The Flint Journal in a one-on-one interview. "But I also think unions protect workers from the kinds of abuses that you still see going on in other countries.
"Obama said there needs to be "immediate help" for families who are struggling in places like Flint, but also a serious plan to create new jobs & industry.
My comment: This plan is going hand & hand with other objectives.
Obama thinking long-term on energyObama is vowing to spend $150 billion over the next 10 years to establish a "green energy sector" to develop solar, wind and biodiesel technologies.
To combat rising gas prices, Obama said, Americans have to change how they use energy.Held in a middle school auditorium, the town hall meeting was to rally supporters in preparation for a tough fall campaign in the Keystone State.
My comment:”A town hall meeting you would think McCain was the only one having them.”
It was cordial & relaxed, with Obama wearing an open collar & bantering freely with the audience.
My comment: Did not see an opening singer or other distractions.
Sen. Obama, opposes off-shore drilling & suggests that the government crack down on oil speculators.
Saudi Arabia to raise crude production to ease prices. I see this in 2 views.
1.They see the writing on the wall.
2. From the flip side trying to help one in control now. Why help to damage a good thing?
To back this view was an early trip that Bush made. In which they did not seem to think it was their problem but have had time to think about it.
To link these to past events was the approval of weapons package to Saudi at the beginning of this year.
There was no tough talk than & the same future was on the horizon than.
In contrast McCain is offering $300 million prize the government should pay for any technology in the development of new car batteries.
The battery bounty: Roughly $1 for every man, woman & child in the country, "a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency,'' McCain says in remarks prepared for delivery Fresno State University.
New invention should have "the size, capacity, cost & power to leapfrog the commercially available plug-in hybrids or electric cars,''
Someone should let him know that this technology is already available. Does "Who killed the electric car" ring a bell? Chevron currently owns the rights and won't sell to anyone? EV-1 anyone? The electric car was here and destroyed because it worked to well..
McCain is clueless about cars & technology. There are already many technologies being perfected & employed.
The same technology was used to make a 320 hp Mini Cooper:
