i urged these brilliant people at CDOT and RTD to establish bus service from the metro area to the ski resorts.... much like the park-n-ride system. it would reduce motor vehicle congestion and get folks to and from the slopes ...conveniently and at a reasonable cost. but NO, they were focused on monorails and exotic services taking 20 years or more to build. however, with a modest investment in facilities, they could move people within a year.

How much time and money is being wasted on all of these traffic studies. The longer we wait on a solution, the worse the problem will become and the more it will cost. If Denver does consider an Olympic bid for 2022, the entire I-70 corridor will need to be revamped. Until a permanent solution is found (and again, this needs to happen soon)... the zipper lane may be a quick fix. But, it will not solve the problem.

Georgetown to Central City parkway?
Who's doing the study?
Have they ever driven it on a Sunday afternoon?

If they have then they would know that the stop and go or stop and park starts as soon as you get to the tunnel, not thru the tunnel, but to the tunnel.
Widen te east bound lane to 4 lanes and/or put in a high speed TVG Train.

there's always someone fighting against progress in areas like this--belligerent people with no mind of the future--just like those against a northwest corridor for the 470 loop, for fastracks and against a train or monorail on I70--they probably think we should never have had a national interstate road system either--the goofs should still be riding around on horse drawn carriages--the current proposals are just band aides that are temporary--oh, the poor scenery and the loss of a sheltered life!
