Um, yes it is, and for reasons just like this one. A LL stands to lose his property from sanctions, fines, judgments, and in some cases confiscation if some slimebag lawyer can prove (s)he knew or should have known of illegal activities going on in the properties (s)he rents out.
You're right, though, no college kid is going to have the resources to pay a judgment, which is why this lawyer is suing anyone with an insurance policy who could possibly be related to the incident.
Fair enough, but I don't think we should be encouraging landlords to be spying snooping on their tennants. I believe in a right to privacy. Don't you have any concerns about setting a bad precedent?

Supposedly parents are teaching their children responsibility. Yeah right. Responsibility to kiss ass, sue the hell out of anyone for anything and step on anyone they can to get to that wonderful job w/the high $$$ salary and rip-off positions. College educated. Yeah right! Educated on how to have a party, binge for frat/sorority pledging, bare butts for 'sprint break', treat everyone w/disrespect because they aren't 'equal' to you. Where can I sign up?

Many of today's college educated young people have no more knowledge than I do after my life-education and work-education. They go for the social atmosphere w/classes 2nd priority. I am not saying all, but many. With so many English majors coming out of college, one wonders why they can't talk, write, or verbalize using that education that they were taught. It just gives them $5,000 more than I make because they have that stupid paper stating a degree and they wanted (or their parents) to pay $50,000+ for their college 'education'.

Bingo. Did I mention a lot of these college kids seem to lack common sense?

Why isnt he suing the girls from the dorm who were at this party and came back. One of them was really drunk and her R.A. called the cops to report underaged drinking at the location and one of the girls either called back or texted to the party that the cops were coming and to break it up. So the guys at the party made everyone either leave or hide inside the house and they carried this kid in. If the cops had gotten there started IDing underaged kids and saw this kid passed out they might've called an ambulance and gotten him to the hospital to have his stomach pumped and saved his life.
I hope those girls have a quilty conscience for the rest of their lives for their part in the coverup.

I think everyone should stop acting like they are holier than thou. People drink when they are young. Turning 21 is a big deal if you are in college or not and usually involves drinking. This kid had agency and free will he is not a victim of anything but ignorance and peer pressure. His death is tragic but not as tragic as a money hungry father going after like aged individuals for his flawed parenting and failed government practices.
