This is an embarrassment to our community, also what about our justice system. Just because she is a want to be mayor does this give her the right to run over our senior citizens?

If this injured person had been a car would this offender been issued a citation? Ocean Spring Police Dept. has just shown corruption perhaps?

You have got to be kidding! Why should the Mayor receive special treatment? If she had accidently killed the person, would THAT have warranted a citation? This is justice for ya ... just don't get caught with an expired tag or inspection sticker general public because trust me, you will be ticketed, fined AND have to make a court appearance too!

Nope, no kidding. If you have and expired tag and a police officer sees you driving with it, you will most likely be cited. If you do not have an inspection sticker and a Highway Patrol Officer sees you, he will most likely cite you, as he is the only Law Enforcement officer who can. Both of these examples are misdemeanors that are citable offenses. The only problem is, that for a law enforcement officer to issue a citation he/she must see the violation occur. Was there an officer watching the mayor break the law, or are we simply going off "statements?"

No it doesn' have to be in the physical presence of officer. Mississippi courts have not held this. Jackson Co. sheriff is wrong.

Not trying to be mean, or defend the mayor, but....you know this how????? Double check with your sources. Also check the United States Supreme Court and pay particular attention to warrantless arrests. I agree the sheriff is usually wrong and his reasoning seems screwed up, but the fact is NOBODY should get a ticket for a violation that wasn't seen. We haven't even got into signing affidavits and having warrants issued, but nobody seems to care about the law, only what they perceive as the law.

Your not mean. There are at least two decisions in the Mississippi appeals courts that talk about this subject. I have a friend who is a lawyer and she told me this. She said that police officers meet the requirement if eyewitnesses give them information to make a citation

This incident was witnessed by the crew of WALA Fox news 10-- it's on tape. Is this still not enough evidence for the police?

I'm not a lawyer, but if that wasn't enough then what would be?

NO WAY Not if you are Connie Moran, she pretty much gets what she wants. She is however, in my opinion the most disliked mayor at this time. Ocean Springs has always perceived themselves as above everyone else on the coast. Statements like Biloxians are lower class citizens are commonly said and they would rather the rest of us just go away and give them the entire coast. The reason there is so much traffic in north Biloxi is because Mz Moran wants a pretty bRidge for those upper class citizens on front beach TO enjoy,so there has been a hold up on progress. I am so sick of this women running the show, and now she proves how powerful she is ,she got her pretty bridge and she can run over people without consequence. I realize it was not intentional but if one of us had done that we would have been arrested and plastered all over the newspaper as terrible people. NOT CONNIE

Oh she was drunk to, So why is it that she can do that and how is it that she can tell OSPD not to do anything about the drugs running in and out of the fema park here in Ocean Springs and these people have already said the next person who calls the Police on them will have a blown up trailer so why is she telling them to stay out of the parks . While hardworking real taxpayers have to live in it but then you lose work cause your worried if you will have a home to come back to and why is it we voted for her again? I know i will not vote again for a SORRY ASS MAYOR AGAIN!

WHAT I WANT IS A MAYOR WHOL CARES ABOUT HER CITY AND THE TAXPAYERS WHO LIVE IN IT. But guess what that want happen because the whole world is really coming to a head and the Mayor would rather poor another stiff one and on with the rest of the day and lets see how many more she can hit this week and how many more drug dealers she lets go because her rum and coke is getting waterd down. Me i am a single hard working taxpayer of Ocean Springs and i know if that would have been me i would be sitting in jail and awaiting other charges i am sure dishonset Mayor means a bad police department which means they dont care they get thier checks each month no matter what. I think something should be done , someone should speak up but i am only one.
