I used to live in Pascagoula, I have been gone for about six years. My family and I were passing through last week and I have noticed many changes. One was the old high school, What are they doing with this building?

With the assistance of a group called PHS2 and Steve Nail, a contractor, the school was saved from demolition by the City Council before Hurricane Katrina. Once Steve got his funding he began renovations and is making the Old PHS school into retirement (senior citizens) apartments and they should be opened by the first of the year or maybe sooner. The school board was willing to give the school to the city for $10 but Joe Cole and the council deemed it not fit and wanted to demolish it so they could BUILD a NEW expensive city bldg. Thanks to PHS2 that plan was nipped in the bud and the building was saved.

The comment left about it being a crack house is nonsense.

My hubby helped with the remodel, they turned it into apartments for 55+ people. It was only supposed to take a year at the most and took over 3! I moved there with him twice, something was always going wrong and they tried to cut way too many corners when it was the things that really matter. And there was sooo much damage from Katrina it was sad! I hope it turned out well, I never saw the finished product!
