I will soon be back in OS for a visit. I know that a short while back, Tato Nut closed because of the owner's daughter having cancer, and needing treatment in Houston. I have not heard if Tato Nut has reopened. I also have not heard any recent updates on the daughter's health. 'Sure would like to get my Tato Nut fix when I am in town.

Good luck catching TatoNut open. And WHEN they are they run out of everything before 9am???

I know they're having family problems and I've been in the same boat so I'm very sorry for them but business is business and should be treated as such instead of having fundraisers???

Why? Cause I want a buisness owner to have some respect for his community?

Heartless because they have a sick child? I had a sick child in the hospital for three months until he died but I still managed to provide for my family and devided my time between my job every single day and the hospital until they kicked us out at night.

I'm sorry to hear about your child, seems you could find some compassion given the circumstances. Mr. Mohler does provide for his family, I guess he finds them more important than some doughnuts. Ocean Springs loves the Mohlers and Tato Nut and both can do without your negativity.

I'm sorry but Ocean Springs Businesses are just hobbies for the owners

There's a joke in town that the stores downtown open at 11:00, Close at 1:00 and take a two hour lunch!

Mr Mohler guards his secret tato-nut recipe and alledgedly only he knows the recipe so if he isn't there, they are closed, 1 day or 1 month, doesn't matter.

I think in this economy I'd share the recipe with a long-time trusted employee or family member, have them sign a non-disclosure and then be able to have the business open while I'm away.

You obviously don't know all the owners of businesses downtown... Or what it takes to own a business for that matter.

1 cup shortening
2 cups mashed potatoes
4 cups lukewarm milk
5 eggs*, beaten
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
12 to 15 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

Scald milk with shortening. Add sugar, salt and enough flour to make a thin batter, about the consistency of cake batter. Add the mashed potatoes, beaten eggs, dissolved yeast and lemon extract. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Let rise twice, then roll out and cut into doughnut shapes. Let rise again until light. Drop doughnuts into hot oil (375 degrees to 400
degrees), raised-side down. Turn once. Remove from
heat and drain briefly before dipping into a glaze
made by mixing powered sugar and water at a ratio of 1 cup to 2 Tablespoons, respectively. Add more water if

needed. Makes 10 to 12 dozen spudnuts. ENJOY!!!!!
* note: If you cut the recipe in half, use 3 eggs.

The family secret to Tato-Nut...is on the package the ingredients come in. They did not event it years ago in a lab in their backyard as the urban legend makes out!!

as you say "Gees, How hard is that???????? " Getting potato out of a "flower" sounds like a labor intensive task to me.

Uh, that's not Gail. Gail doesn't post from Yazoo City, the suck-up who probably works at Harbor Landing does and he hates Gail for posting the truth. Yazoo City, your sock puppets don't fool me, I can tell who you are by your lack of spelling and grammar, and your continuous sucking up to that place on the harbor, not to mention that you are nasty. Anybody who reads the threads here can tell it's the nasty Yazoo City douche posting under a sock puppet and pretending he's Gail so he can write "Farts" and go "tee-hee".

So, who stole the boat trailer from y'all?

do you even live in ocean springs!?!? I was born and raised there and if you we're then you would know that they do not have "Businesses"in ocean springs, they have families, everyone knows everybody and when you walk a shop you don't just buy something and then walk back out, you have a conversation with everyone in there and always see someone you know. A "hobby" puts food on most people's table and if it is just a hobby then everyone is dang serious about them. So don't talk about something you don't know about and say that's its a bad thing to chose FAMILY over work. The last thing I have to say is Bless Your Heart, because you certainly need it
