We were givin a membership from a friend. We have stayed four times since April of this year. My kids go over just to swim or camp. There are no mosqitos and the water is great. I have a special needs child and the staff are great about helping keep an eye on him. We love our membership and love going over. One of my sons friends is staying this weekend for his birthday. I'm sorry that yall have had issues but we love it

We know the owner of MLR Jerry, In fact he is the one that suckered us up in buying into a great buy membership @ MLR. We trusted him since he goes to the same church we do. I talked to him about terminating our contract because my children are not using it and tried to sell it but I could not sell. His response, " I'm sorry but there's nothing he can do." Sorry??????what the hell!!!!We did not know we sign up for a lifetime membership! Still paying for it after 10 years even though we don't use it! Hope he rot in hell for lying to us!!!!

Don't do it. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.
My membership was $179/year. I have not used the place in 5 years since I could never get into the cottages they have. they probably oversold this thing and can not(never) fulfill there agreement of (10 FREE nights). I received a letter saying membership fees going up to $395. when call to find out the fee. they say they have a new program. They try to sell us another program for $3400.

Bottomline is our original memebership of $4200 is worth nothing unless you buy into that new and "improved" program.

Stay away at any cost....

WE got our membership for FREE from a person who was transfering out. We paid the fees and thought we were with AOR. We later found out we were not and now if you call they have a rpi rep who pretty much threatens you and tries to sell you another scam product but now I can't even give this membership away Damn I am stuck big time.
I have posted my membership on ther face book page for sale and they keep deleting my posts . I got time to do it every day.I have never been out there without an altercation of some sort with another member, employee or a permanent camper of some stupid stuff.

We went to talk to them about selling our membership and a RPI rep took us in and tried to sell us another membership for 4000.00. The scam is the increase the fees to 394.00 and when you go to complain they put ypu thru this sales pitch...another scam.We were told all the perm campers were moving out. Right now there at=re no empty sites and by the way the RPI rep told me we have a free week in a cabin thet Jerry doesnt tell us about but it is in the contract. Haven't read mine yet but yes my membership is up for grabs to whoever wants it. pAY THE TRANSFER FEE IT IS YOURS.

HELP!!!!!!We also were lied to and told that we would be able to get out if financially we could mnot continue. We have never been there or stayed in Mississippi. Shortly after getting our membership, we had some financial issues and could not continue this on one income. We paid on the membership for over two years we have not used the facility at all. But judging from the other reviews, I am glad we didn't. We have been harassed with letters and calls. Now they are threatening to sue us. We were told that it was our place to sell the membership, but we do not know anyone near the area and really would not recommend this rip off to others. We would definitely not do to anyone what has been done to us. If anyone knows what we can do to get out of this trap, please respond and let us know!!!!

Please contact MS Attorney Generals office. They have not had enough complaints filed. These types of cotracts are not illegal in MS and they should be.

Have you ever read the entire contract? You signed something an agreed to something so what is that something? People change their minds and then blame others.Happens all the time.I cannot believe anybody would pay to stay on that dirt pit to begin with.

DO NOT BUY A "MEMBERSHIP" AT MARTIN LAKE. IT IS DEFINITELY A SCAM. YOU GET SOMETHING THAT YOU REALIZE YOU DONT WANT AND THEN YOU CANT GET RID OF IT. SO FAR NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO HELP US GET RID OF THIS. WE PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND ARE STILL BEING BILLED AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN THERE IN YEARS. WE ARE AFRAID TO STOP PAYING SINCE THEY WILL RUIN OUR CREDIT. I AM ALMOST DECIDING BAD CREDIT IS BETTER THAN THIS! IF ANYONE HAS SUCCESSFULLY GOTTEN OUT OF A CONTRACT WITH THEM, PLEASE POST HOW. PLEASE DONT SELL YOUR PROBLEM TO SOMEONE ELSE. I PRAY EVERY DAY, LORD, DELIVER US FROM EVIL, BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS.

We bought into the same thing as everybody else is complaining about, so I won't bore anyone with more of the same complaints. I'd also hate to pass this burden onto someone else, but if there are any takers out there that would actually like a free membership to MLR, I have a free one to give away. I will even pay the transfer fees. If interested, please email me at [email protected]
I'm in the process of contact the BBB and Attorney General's Office.
Sincerely,

Please read your contract carefully. You have to be current in your loan and update on your maint fees. You have to either sell or transfer your membership to some1 but all transactions has to be done at the resort.
Also their is a termination fee to pay if you can not find someone to take it over.
In the state of MS once you sign a legal contract their is no right of recision to cancel (meaning some states has 24-72hr grace period) MS state doesnt have that.
I hope that helps you to umdetstand their rules of their contract.
For the ones that sign a contract before 2010 its states must be transfer or sold. The resort will not sell it for you. But they can let you out but will have to pay that termination fee. Price of it can go up.
For the ones that sign their contract after 2010 it clearly states that in your contract.
They have the right to increase your maint fees when the consumer price index goes up. It clearly states it in your contract.
Thank u!

Who is dumb enough to buy any portion of this deal. The place is an old abandon dirt pit. People buy then have remorse. You signed a contract now live with it.
Buyer Beware

MLK is run by the two most dishonest people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Jerry is a man whore who uses fees to spend money on his revolving girlfriends, such as taking them on expensive trips and buying them expensive cars. His son Jay is a despicable human being who cheated on his wife with an underage employee, and has messed with the girls head so much that she is like his lap dog, thankfully his now ex-wife was able to get away from him. He also uses the members fees to pay for his expensive lifestyle; breast implants for his girlfriend/slave, expensive cars, vacations, cosmetic surgery for himself, and the list goes on and on.

That place is a hell hole. They will scam you in and bleed you dry. I saw it happen to my parents. My advice is save your money and go somewhere nice. Not a place that has a yucky lake, a tiny swimming pool, permanent camper trailers with drug addicts living in them, and a spot where the owners allow under age kids to come and party and drink on the far side of the property down a dirt road by the power lines. It is NOT a safe place to take your kids and the most of the staff are rude and ignorant. Stay away, or at least buyer beware. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into.
