PLEASE! This man does nothing about serving and protecting our communities or our children. He runs a good ole boy system. Don't re-elect. He's been in office too long and he is too comfortable with it. We need new leadership in Jackson County.
We need a change.

I agree. Jackson County Sheriff Office is a family thing. Not only that, the deputies are very unintelligent and do not know the laws. He should know that it takes a real man to do his job. His deputies think its ok for a woman to be beaten. Actually they think its funny. Now is this what you would call a real man or a coward.

Mike Byrd is the classic examle of the need for term limitations. The nepotism that is going on in his department is enough to choke a Clydesdale. It seems that Sheriff Byrd has lost sight of "serve and protect" ALL the people of Jackson County and has settled on a policy of backing his family and childhood friends, with total disregard for fact and truth, even when it presented to him in living color. It was time for Sheriff Pope to go onto other things in 2000. Now it's time for Sheriff Byrd to be replaced. Only you can keep out county clean.

Having known Mr Byrd for a very long time, he should never have been sheriff at all, and I agree with the statement that he runs a "good ol boy"system. He has gotten to comfortable as he puts it his town. If anyone has a family member in the ADC, I would be very concerned about their safety, as the doors have been removed from the cells, and Mr Brodus runs his house the way he wants, and I beleive the sheriff dept is in charge of the ADC and please correct me if I'm wrong. I would think they would do anything to keep from being sued, such as an inmate being robbed or shanked by some gang {which has been on the news}which is in this facility. Without the cell doors what protection does the inmates have? It doesn't matter what they did, under the Consitution, they have civil rights, to be safe, not to have their personel things taken from them, and not to have their mail kept from them because the personnel who opens it doesn't agree with what is written. This information is on the internet under Inmates Civil Rights. I am concerned about all the inmates who have no protection without cell doors and if you have a family member in the ADC I would be concerned too. It's time for a change in the sheriff office and the ADC. Just because someone holds an office doesn't make them above the law.
