The Mayor said she received $10,000 from someone with the cmpany that the city is doing business with? And you wonder why they are not trusted?

Has nothing to do with the foolish goings on by the Board of Alderman.Everyone of them agreed that the current garbage contractor is and has always done an excellent job. For 8 cents per home per month the gang of four wants to take a chance on a new contractor that has lost all of the other contracts it had on the Ms.Gulf Coast and in most places being replaced by Delta Sanitation.Folks this is less than 1%.And Hagan, what nerve he has.He thinks he has been emboldened but he is such an embaressment to himself and the city.It is obvious to all he is Matt's new mouth piece. Bobby Cox, in a short time, has become a expert in contract negotiations after all these years of never doing it before.Chic is a mild mannered man with some secret agenda. He always talks to soft to hear it except when thanking God for Hagan being a free man.We as the taxpaying citizens of this city need to hitch up our britches, get out our pitch forks and prepare to storm City Hall.Long live the Queen's veto and to hell with a company that threatens to sue using Psycamores hired gun before ever doing business in our city but I guess that is how New York Hedge Fund owned garbage companies do business.Vultures they are.Rise up fellow tawpayers and demand no change to our garbage sevice.Lets stick with our"Homegrown" Delta Sanitation and the great people they employ.Let you voice be heard.

The law required the city to go out for proposals.
Three companies submitted. Waste Pro was the highest. The subcommittee which was appointed by the entire board, interviewed each company and asked them for a final price. Each company had another opportunity to submit in writing a final proposal. Waste Pro was not the lowest. The city acknowledged that all 3 were qualified by allowing them to submit a second proposal. The three subcommittee members were unanimous in their findings. They sent out a spread sheet with all of the proposal numbers. They voted for Advanced Disposal. A fourth Alderman also voted for Advanced Disposal. Now the mayor has vetoed the majority of the board while she has admitted taking money from an employee of Waste Pro. She now wants to go out for a third proposal. Do you think anyone other than Waste Pro will ever get a fair chance to get the contract?
Just the facts please

First you are incorrect in stating"The law required the city to go out for proposals" The City could have renewed the contract with Delta/Waste Pro without ever taking other bids if they choose to do so.Garbage service is different than say for example the constructoin contract for the new Police Station. The garbage service contract should not only be based on price but also on service and community involvement.Anyone can see who has listened to the facts that Delta/WastePro won the right to renew the contract hands down.if you take everything into consideration I do not see how the four opposing Alderman can say no with a straight face after stating how great the service has been with Delta/Waste Pro.It is very easy to see that this is more about control than about what is best for the taxpayers of our City. The hate for the Mayor by some of the aldermen is obvious.McDonald and Hagan now move as one because McDonald says so.Most know Hagan is his employee. I hope they quit the games and do what the people want and that is to continue the great service that has been provided by the local people at Delta/Waste Pro.

Another interesting fact -- Advanced Disposal is the trash contractor for the Coast Coliseum, where Matt McDonnell is the Marketing Director. He has had a close relationship with them for years. Advanced Disposall underbid Waste Pro for the Gautier contract by over 50 cents/month, but the Gautier Council chose Waste Pro anyway. It's about service and reliability -- you pay what you get for.

Tidbits failed to mention that Jerry Dalgo is best friends with a former partner in Delta Sanitation formerly Waste Pro. Tidbits also failed to mention $10,000 reasons that the maayor had to support Waste Pro. Oh by the way. Why even requst proposals

Why is it an issue for Dalgo to be friends with someone at Delta/WastePro? What we need is for Matt McDonnell to come foward and reveal his relationship with Advanced Disposal and their employees as Assistant Director at the Coliseum. We already know his only friend in OS is James Hagan who also works for him.If he is honest about this he will need to recuse himself from voting on the garbage contract.Oh by the way they should have renegotiated a new contract with the company that has provided the best service OS has ever had,no RFP needed, which is legal and smart. This is garbage.

This is really funny & I'm glad I don't live in OS any more.

Fwiw, the mayor is on the take & she's sucking ass with the people who bought her campaign, the "queen"(I assume you mean Ms. Moran) is indeed on the take & this is corruption incarnate on her part. And I'm not sure if any of the other aldermen have taken money from this company but it wouldn't surprise me.

As for the 4 who voted for the other company -- I know Bobby Cox, he's a good guy. He's not 'an expert' but he's probably viewing it thru a common sense perspective. He probably wants to save the city money. Don't know about the other 3 who voted for it or what their agenda is.

All I know is -- it goes to show what throwing a little money around can do to local politicians. If I was an alderman I'd vote for the lower priced contractor. I'd give them a one or 2 year trial run & if they didn't cut the mustard I'd cut them loose & bring back the 2nd choice.

Pretty simple really. I actually agree with whoever it was who said in this recession you should count pennies. That adds up to hundreds of thousands in savings. The new "Public Safety Center" will fuck the city's budget sideways for years to come. Things cost money & debt service is NOT cheap.

If the one they have now has good service then perhaps they should consider them but they need to keep in mind -- next year & the next & the next & so on -- the costs for the bond outlays will go up. You will have to spend more & more money on the interest for the cop station, just so the police can have a sub station to pull over idiots going to work @ the shipyard or coming home or so they can give tickets to ppl coming in to shop @ Walmart.

Somehow I don't think all that fine/ticket revenue will equal the cost of that monstrosity of a building. Better prep in the coming years for Gautier-style layoffs & if the economy takes a sharp downturn -- perhaps even chapter 9 bankruptcy protection for the city.

You know again, its not my city but I think most working stiffs in Ocean Springs could care less who's hauling their trash away so long as its done on time & correctly. They just want to save money. And I don't think the four members' intent is as malicious as some are saying. Maybe the 2 gentlemen you speak of but Mr. Cox or the other one, Chic or w/ever his name is. They just want lower costs for their constituents. That being said - I'm truly curious -- you said the contractor they chose is losing contracts all over the coast. I'd like to know more about this -- which cities & for what reason?

The only thing I'll add is I seriously don't think anybody cares about 'the good service' company A brings over company B so long as they save money. I know why Connie's voting this way but I'm curious about the other 3 council members.

Is the contractor the 4 chose really 'bad' at doing business? If so, how? I'm truly curious, I don't keep up with lol, local garbage politics. If somebody's taking out my trash -- that's all I care about, I'd choose the company offering me the lowest price to do so.

So let me get this straight, the mayor, Dalgo, & McDonnell all should recuse themselves from voting/deciding?

Good old boy politics, gotta love it lol. This woman knows that guy, this guy gets money from that guy, blah blah blah....

4aldermen are about to give the city of Ocean Springs a Christmas Gift they won't soon forget or forgive.Do you like your garbage service ? Do you know what it's like to have bad service? In Mondays meeting these 4 aldermen insisted that whatever company gets the contract, there will be no standards on equipment . The trucks can be any age or condition, the carts can be used and discarded from other cities and you will pay for these carts whether you want it or not.ALL THREE COMPANIES CAN ROUND UP AND USE OLD EQUIPMENT AND CARTS !!! Where did this nonsense come from? What is their motivation ? Demand Answers !! The gift they have in mind for this fine city won't arrive in time for Christmas morning but be assured if they are successful you'll get it right after New Years! The Election Is Around The Corner !
