look around America, all resort areas around the country is being made deals with these sources, not only are most of these people here on visa's and illegal,as their backgrounds are kept secret as well. Be surprised how and why they are in the US. If you go anywhere on a vacation that attracts American Tourist, you see the same operations of foriegners running the places. Best to just Stop visiting and doing business.

I don't owe you an explanation.
It would certainly matter to me too if the post by "Anonymous" from Florida is correct in saying that foreighners don't pay taxes for 5 years and then sell to relatives and get another 5 year tax break. My daughter has a retail store in South Carolina and she hasn't gotten that kind of tax break.

Well, the next time we go to the beautiful Smokie Mountains in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge we will only be spening our US dollars at places run by the original mountain people - not the foreign transplants who are getting a free ride from taxes!

I wonder why visitors have not traveled the Glades Rd. loop to enjoy ART,and other great items by HOME GROWN artists. That is where we go to relax and enjoy an afternoon 8 mile stretch of FUN. We are locals that avoid sidewalk crowds. Many visitors do not even know that the National Park is at traffic light #10 and often ask are there any trails to hike around here? I say, well, how far do you want to walk?
I was one of the first to mention the foreign thing because I am a resident and my local business friends could no longer compete with foreign FREE US $$ and had to close or move to the glade because of sky high rent downtown. We have lost a lot of good honest to goodness shops that can't pay $8000+ rent per month for a 12 by 20 space on the street and survive.
I have heard folks say well there is another pack-of-stans and all their $10.000 each paid to come here relatives. Sure "free" is irritating when others worked hard to have and to be here and are forced out. People don't come here to see t-shirts and fake purses. They, according one of our most successful restaurant owners come here to see the BEARS!

Wow! I am quite impressed how some people in Tennessee do not like foreigners! I am not a judge, but this is sort of a racism. Have those people been to London, Paris, or Frankfurt? There, people really very rarely are differentiated on the base of their race, religion or country of origin. Thus, German do not fight to Turkish and vice versa. It has been since long time ago and, e.g., Frankfurt is still a German city, as German as any other. I came from Europe and it is somewhat frightful to learn that someone can be treated here bad because he is not an American. I believe that this is still a rare exclusion.

It's about time for some of us Radical Hillbiilys from Kentucky to come down and help you people out. We got plenty of money ourselves from our backyard oil wells . We'll buy up the right side of Gatlinburg and draw a Red Line and it won't be like Obamas . We don't need any financial help from the "Giverment". We'll be the ones driving the street in our Hummers waving the Stars and Stripes with our AR's daring anyone to take them from our hands. We must take back America! We owe it to our fighting forces and forefathers .

My dad owns a business in Gatlinburg and he pays taxes. I just ask him about not paying taxes for 5 years and he said he never heard of anything like that. People stop being racist. My dad works very hard to get were he is. Nothing was free. He worked many hours for many years and save a lot. I never go on expensive vacations growning up, my clothes came from yardsales, and when I turn 16 I will have to work for my first car. My parents did not give my brothers and I everything but he saved. Stop being jelious and if you want something go and work harder. Also, do you people think your ancestors are all origionally from here? No, they are from England, Ireland, or some other place.

Nice note Kala. I am a resident and go to the glade to appreciate the talents and beauty produced by the artists there often. It is a side that most folks miss when they come here but it should not be kept a secret! There are also some really good musicians playing for free at some of the stops.

I am concerned that the downtown has turned into small stores that are junky. They should rename it "airport presents parkway". First the first time in my fifty years I have noticed that there are store fronts empty and motels with vancancy signs all over. I think most folks are renting cabins and getting away from the trashy tourists. It is a shame. I considered the business owners but what aggravates me is the constant pitching of amusement and tourist tickets. It is like a carnival atmosphere. We will most likely never return.

These people who are in the process of taking the flavor of the Tennessee mountains away from those who love it should understand bout the White Caps and the Red Caps. The same could happen to them.

I am ashamed of the ones that soled these business buildings to outsiders but not suprised. However if the outsiders persist, they will end up with no customers.

Well Muslims are not all terrorists.
Many of them work hard long hours, they deserve to own businesses too
