Ft. Hood suspect reportedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar'

Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire, the base commander said today.

Good call...but I doubt he'll be prosecuted by the TX authorities...UCMJ will take care of him (assuming he lives). He will probably be given the death penalty and spend the rest of his life at Leavenworth at hard labor (if he makes it out of the hospital).

I know plenty of muslims that don't HATE the US. I also know of plenty of Christians that do. Lets not turn this into a racial/religious debate. There is an alarming number of mass shootings happening lately, why? This has been the only shooter I've heard of that is muslim..... from what I read, he was born in the US (you know, where you have freedom of religion).

Seems like he was Americanized enough to think that it's OK to shoot multiple people to get what you want. It's like from the first mass shooting, it became a good idea in sickos heads.

He was a misguided soul, just like some of the people who are commenting on this site. My initial reaction was to hate on the Muslim people, and ask why our military would commission a guy like that and promote him to Major. In psychiatry no less. My knee jerk reaction was wrong, as usual. This tragedy was not the Army's fault, nor the Muslim's fault. It was Malik Nadal Hasan's fault. Period. The ignorant people will try to lay the blame elsewhere because that is what ignorant people do. The reason why America is the greatest country on the planet is because we get contributions from everybody regardless of race, religion, sex, or anything else. We are a Melting Pot society that has produced excellence in many fashions, lets not let one misguided soul spoil it.

First, it's horrible that people died, especially when they were on their way to combat. Second, this is not a "terrorist" attack. It has mor similariites to a mass school shooting, or office shooting, than terrorism. There is not ONE report out yet that he worked with any terrorist organization, or that he killed these people in the name of religion. If he had said "god is great" in English (like some religious fanatic), you wouldn't be calling it TERRORISM.

When did the country become a place where a mass shooting is common? I don't know if it's worse when it happens at a school or an army base.... there has to be a better way to ID people that are capable of this type of behavior. From what I've read, it seems to be the loners, the anti social type that get teased, bullied, or "harrassed" that end up doing it.

So the guy doesn't like woman (from another story where he refused to be photographed with female relatives...the old women are chattel crap at work here perhaps?) and he shouts out God is Great when launching himself into his show of love for his Army compatriots.
