What I know is that a Murfreesboro police officer and a Hertford county Deputy shot a man named Sammie Britt about five times and killed him behind a bank. They alleged he assaulted them with a pipe and then pulled a knife on them. Sounds like a coverup to me. The SBI has now taken over the case. The officer involved were P.O. Larry Newsome and Sgt. Jessie Fennell of the Sheriffs office.

Ummmm excuse me, but that police officer who allegedly "murdered" Sammmie Britt is my husband, and he did NOT MURDER ANYONE!He is a loving husband, father and Christian. I was 7 months pregnant when this occurred, and gratefully, because my husband reacted exactly how he was trained to do, he came home that day. Sammie Britt DID hit my husband with a PIPE and DID lunge after him with a RAZOR KNIFE, getting very close to his throat!!! So please kiss my ass!!!

The Officers who allegedly "murdered" Sammie Britt are good friends of mine. They did not murder anyone. If you want to use the word murder mabey you should say that Sammie Britt attempted to murder them, and they were doing what they were trained to do so they can go home to there families every night. so for all of you who think it is a cover up you can cover my ass with your lips as you are kissing it.

I have been talking to the guy that got shot sister inlaw. From what she say, the killing was senseless.

With a deadly threatening beast, transqulizers are used. They have stun guns, mace, rubber bullets and a lot more non lethal weapons available. There is no excuse for taking a life whether crimimal or having the authority to use lethal force. That is the key work word. Use of lethal force. No officer of the law would have approached a Bear like that. They knew Sammie had mental issues. Why would you put him in a situatiom where you would have to use deadly force.

I am the sister in law of Sammie Britt. It was a senseless murder. He was at the trademark gas station when the clerk called the cops because he was loitering. Before any cop got to the scene, Sammie had already walked away. Why should there have even been a pursuit? He was aggitated and then murdered (but that is okay God knows all and he sees all. Even the way that the investigation was done was not right. Sammie weighed 125 soak and wet. Why should it have taken 6 or how every many bullets from a 45 automatic to bring a man down(especially that size). They say that they used stunt guns to try to take control of him, but I know for a fact that that is a lie. Hertford County Police purchased stunt guns (so they say) shortly after Sammie's MURDER. I am so sick and tired of our black men been murdered by officers of the law. I am a chrisitian and I thank God that every dog has his day. One thing that we might all forget is that we are mortal and we all have to answer to God one day, so go ahead and continue to MURDER, cheat, and lie. You will have your day in front of a real Judge and Jury.

We all know that Hertford county cops are cowards, but the fact is that they can and will get away with what they did. Anyone that is poor, black, or different will be singled out in that county. Now I am sure someone will disagree with me. But if Sammie Britt had a gun you couldn’t find a cop anywhere. You have no rights; they know it and I hope you learn from this tragedy.

It seems that everyone here has an opinion on the shooting in Murfreesboro. Everyone is entitled to their own. I guess if you weren't there you can only assume what took place and base your opinion on assumption. I being someone who has seen the video of this incident have a real look at what actually took place. I feel for the family members of Sammy Britt and the officers. It is a shame that things had to end the way they did. I know that the officers involved would have preferred it end differently. It seems that so many of you are against these officers. I know both of them personally and they are both really great men. Both are thoughtful and would do what ever they could to help anyone. Please don't continue to pound these officers for doing their job. Maybe one day you may need them.
