Yes, but they really meant it in 1776 and did something about it. The people today are just all talk and bitching. No action. Want to be compared to those of 1776? Do something!
Yep, they did. From 1776 till 1789. You still have time to evacuate out of South Carolina.

Here man, I got a compromise.

You can tax the wealthy. Tax them all day long.

But your president and vice president have to give up their perks and take a salary reduction.

That means...

No more Air Force 1 or 2.
No more Marine 1 or 2.
No more presidential limos.
No more Whitehouse or Number One Observatory Circle.
No more Secret Service Cadre.
No more secure communications.
No more staff catering to his beck and call.

Since your president is fighting for the common man, let him reside and walk with the common man.

Be a good place to start. Pelosi is not flying under the radar either.

"Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family."

How long do you think any President would last without Secret Service protection?

So you wish for the president to go unprotected? I am sure you would love this.
Air force one is a mobile command unit. It is a must.
You do not understand how compromise works. Your requests are not reasonable.

Maybe ending secret service protection for Bush would be a good start as well.

y'all are right. The president should hitchhike if he has to go anywhere and he should carry a .357 and a30.06 to protect himself. This would undoubtedly encourage only true patriots to run for the office. ;)

This poster expressed what it means to me.

"Sour grapes seem to be the dish de jour for Republicans. I wish they'd get over it and try being loyal to our nation. "

“The Secret Service provides lifelong protection to former presidents and their spouses if they were president before 1997. Subsequent presidents receive 10 years of protection for themselves and their spouses, though a spouse loses protection if divorced from the former president or if the former president dies.

“So President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, will receive 10 years of protection, though Laura Bush would lose that protection before the 10-year mark if her husband died or they got divorced. President Bill Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, will receive protection their entire lives regardless of whether they divorce or the former president dies.

“Lady Bird Johnson — the wife of President Lyndon B. Johnson — received protection until her death in 2007."

"The Secret Service provides protection for major candidates, unless declined. The Secret Service has no role in determining who is to be considered a major candidate. The Secretary of the Homeland Security determines who qualifies as a major candidate and when such protection should commence under the authority of Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056. This determination is made in consultation with an advisory committee comprised of the following individuals:

Speaker of the House
House Minority Whip
Senate Majority Leader
Senate Minority Leader
One additional member chosen by the committee"

Now who is being unreasonable? The planes of the 89th Airlift Wing are hardly a must. They might help the president do his job better but hardly a must.

You guys said the republican saber rattling was all for not prior to your president being re-elected. I will ask, if that truly is the case, what does your president have to fear other than fear itself?
