The Redneck thing does not point out anything about our town as a whole. Lets read the quote you provided:
"I hate that this happened but rule #1 speed kills. Also, the juvenile delinquents we have in Gaston that have nothing better to do with their stupid redneck selves is the reason people brick their mailboxes".
The "stupid redneck selves" refers to the earlier part of the sentence, specifically the "juvenile delinquents we have in Gaston".
Are you stating that Gaston is populated by only juvenile delinquents? More specifically, the people that brick their mailboxes are in response to the mailboxes being destroyed, usually by a baseball bat or another object. I would be willing to bet that those doing it are younger males, probably in the 15-20 age range. And, I would also state that riding around in a car with a baseball bat destroying a mailbox would make me consider them a redneck, and not a bright one at that.
I take NO offense to that quote. It does not describe me, my sons, or any member of my family. Why does it offend you so? Does a member of your family ride around and destroy mailboxes? No? Then it should not describe your family and therefore, should not be offensive to you either. I fail to see your point here. If someone has a child that rides around and destroys mailboxes, IMO, they should not be offended when someone calls them a delinquent or a stupid redneck, because if they are doing it, they are.
And, I used the I and my because that statement was not offensive to me. They are not talking about me, my family, or the residents of Gaston that I personally know. I think I have explained why I feel that way. That statement was pointed towards a specific group of people, a group I am not going to defend.
And, the idiot and coward thing, as you state: "addressed those persons which made my accusations valid." The stupid redneck was pointed towards the juvenile delinquents that destroyed mailboxes. Both remarks were pointed directly at a specific group, not the town of Gaston. Apples to Apples.
Do you even realize how many times you contradict yourself? Again, I will be back to address this but in the mean time, please decide whether or not an 18 year old is a juvenile or a man. You have said both and my remarks were to two specific people, Crystal and Wendy, not a group. I will be back, but you need to slow down so that I can answer you. Take the time to go over your past posts and stick to your consensus so that I can explain. I cannot defend MY side if you continue to change YOURS.

I hate to break it to YOU, but you just helped what we've been trying to say.
"Now, had those children had another option, they MAY have made the decision to do something else. But, they may have chosen to do the same exact thing that they did."
You are completely right. What we want to do is make that option available. If we do not have the facilities, there is no possibility that we could have prevented this. However, if there is another option, who's to say that they wouldn't have chosen it; that it COULDN'T have helped.
And who is to say it WOULD help? I am certainly not stating with certainty that it would not help some people. I am certain it will. But, what you have to do is weigh the cost of these endeavors against the number of people it helps.

Again, you advocate this option, I asked in the other thread for the data to back up your claim. How many people will it help versus the cost of the program.

Again, don't be naive. I realize that the National Healthcare Program advocated by Obama and most democrats WILL help people, but at what cost?

I mean, lets say instead of a recreation facility, I think we should build a world class fishery because my 13-year old likes to fish. I think that the town should buy 300 acres, dig a hole, fill it with water, and stock it with bass. The cost is irrelevant because I am sure it will benefit my son. They should also buy a new bass boat for our use when we want to fish. And, I realize I can drive to Lake Murray, but do you realize that this would paint Gaston in a positive light. Cost should not be an issue. Let's just build it.

I think an free arcade should be next.

Both would help some children stay off the streets. We should also dome the baseball fields.

Please show me the sentence where I even mentioned my 18-year old son and called him a juvenile. In fact, I think I stated it does not describe me, my sons, or any member of my family.

Therefore, please show me where I stated my 18-year old was a juvenile. Second, I have a 13-year old son....guess what he is...a juvenile.

Now, my 18-year old is a man. He kills someone, he goes to jail. If he gets a girl pregnant and shakes the baby to death, he is a man. He gets drunk and wrecks a car, it is on him. See, he understands that. He understands there are consequences to his actions.

I have not changed my side. I still contend that the statement you quoted is not a slight against all of Gaston, it is a slight against specific people, those that destroy mailboxes and I hope, for all our sake, that it is a couple individuals and not a group.

First of all Thomas, allow me to state that again, that that post was not my son William, it was me. I forgot to change names again after he posted. Okay, I don't know where you keep getting the building something thing but how can you measure the cost of lives that will be changed in future generations by helping one child....Martin Luther king Jr., Billy Graham, Harriet Tubman, Any of our presidents, Blah, Blah, Blah. How can you justify that with a monetary value? Look at how they have all changed history. After all, you can't take it with you right? Now, a neglected child---Adolph Hitler........How much do you recon he cost the entire world? You keep putting a money value on things. A virtuous woman's value is more than pearls according to the bible. How many lives does this one person affect? You can't count them for her value will be spread throughout generations. I still quote my Great-Grandmother whom quoted to me from her Grandmother... And so will my children, I guarantee you.

Okay since you have been so kind as to go back and pull up something for me, I will do the same for you, but right now I am waaaay behind for work and I need to go so I can support my family. I was on here all day yesterday and since 6:30am again this morning. How many hours do you think that our Mayor and Council will give you? Remember Wendy's post? You are not in the town limits so your words are usless babble, HAHAHA? And her family represents our Town! Anyway, do you not remember posting that the kids whom distroy mailboxes are probably between the ages of 15-20? while the topic was juvinile redneck selves? I did not mention your son. I have no reason to piss you off. Your son, I am sure, would be different from these guys, as would mine. But a MAN is not determined by age. And if he were, the legal age is 21 not 18. I will be back after work....And again, thank you.

I am sorry that you feel that way about our children. I have taught mine better. I hope that you are doing the same. Another NEGATIVE naysayer.....Get the problem yet?

Thomas, the post to which you were refering that involved juveniles ages is in post 18.

So, you are willing to spend one million dollars on one child in the hopes that he becomes the next "Martin Luther king Jr., Billy Graham, Harriet Tubman, Any of our presidents"?

That is insane. But, I'll play along.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He has a brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King. His father stated Alfred was “a little rough at times” and “let his toughness build a reputation throughout our neighborhood”. He married at 17. Two brothers, same parents, same upbringing. One becomes a guy you admire, the other is in the streets and married at 17 (he could have been that 18 year old shaking his baby to death that you state needed programs).

Billy Graham was born on a Dairy Farm. Not sure about mentoring from others, but when prohibition ended, his father made him and his sister drink beer until they vomited creating a lifelong aversion. I guess we should start a youth drinking program.

Harriet Tubman, as a child, was a slave. She was often beaten and whipped by her masters. She suffered a bad head injury when she was struck by a heavy metal object. She had issues resulting from this the rest of her life. I guess slavery as a child could count as the Boys and Girls Club.

And, to our presidents, are you referring to Richard Nixon? Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky. JFK and Marilyn Monroe. Great examples.

Too funny.

You do realize that Adolf Hitler attended a Catholic School as a child.

I continue to place a monetary cost on it because that almost always the bottom line. If you could do it for free, you would not be complaining about it, you would simply be doing it.

Yep, I did state the I felt the people doing the mailbox destruction would be 15-20. The person that stated they were juvenile delinquents may feel they are under 18. I do not. The ones over 18 are adults and I would try them as such. The ones under 18 would be in juvenile detention as soon as I caught them.

And, I am not upset. I rarely get upset. If you happened to state something off hand about one of my children, I would simply assume you did not know them well enough and move on. Words and people's perceptions carry very little weight with me and rarely affect my actions.

And this was not a "man" Thomas, this was a child. Teaching our boys and girls to be MEN and WOMEN of integrity is what we are trying to do. If you were at any of the gatherings you would know this. A "man" would not have done this to his child. It is easy to be uninvolved and ........You know, again, what is the point? I know where you stand and YOU know where WE stand. The rest is common sense.
Hmmm...men and women of integrity.... do men of integrity walk around with their shirt half unbuttoned at a town meeting? Hmmm...do women of integrity post a near porn picture on their facebook account?

Really now...what are you teaching your children about integrity Mr. Dailey?
