I lived in Elbert for 18 years, and passed this graveyard many of times. My gramma is 91 and would tell me stories of it. Her sis who died in 1930s is buried there, she passed away from really bad ear infection.

I lived in the white house that sits right beside the cemetery. In the winter I could just walk out the back door and walk among the graves. It wasn't safe any other time because of the snakes. The house was sold about thirteen years ago to a man from Maryland to use as a hunting cabin. I'm not sure if he still owns it or not...I've never been back. But I can tell you one thing..it's haunted. I'm sure there will be a lot of neigh Sayers but living in that house made a believer out of me.

Does anyone have any info on the very old immigrant cemetary in Gary just beyond the Gary Nursing Home? I stopped there recently to have a look and was awestruck at how many immigrants was buried there. Mostly children, babies and young adults. Also interesting was that the majority died in 1921. Was this during the flu pandemic? The oldest grave I found was that of a child, born in 1807. It gave me a hauntingly sad feeling, seeing so many babies and small children buried there. I think the most recent grave was a woman buried in 1943. I'd love more info if anybody knows anything about this cemetary. Thanks.
Gary C-church has some records.

Saigon, I had an Uncle Misha who died during the Flu Epidemic. Don't know where he was buried. But I believe 1921 was the middle of it.
