No. We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

Me too, I think....It is a big help to have another thread. Here is a quote from Thomas Jefferson. Did you know that almost all the framers of our government were atheists? They knew that keeping religion would keep the masses in line, so they simply put up with it.

"To talk of immaterial existences is to talk of nothings. To say that the human soul, angels, God, are immaterial, is to say they are nothings, or that there is no God, no angels, no soul. I cannot reason otherwise: but I believe I am supported in my creed of materialism by Locke, Tracy, and Stewart. At what age of the Christian church this heresy of immaterialism, this masked atheism, crept in, I do not know. But a heresy it certainly is. Jesus told us indeed that 'God is a spirit,' but he has not defined what a spirit is, nor said that it is not matter. And the ancient fathers generally, if not universally, held it to be matter: light and thin indeed, an etherial gas; but still matter." letter to John Adams, August 15, 1820 - Thomas Jefferson

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.

The world holds two classes of men intelligent men without religion, and religious men without intelligence.

Religion does three things quite effectively: Divides people, Controls people, Deludes people.

Got it wrong....The world holds two kinds of people.....People that want to go to Heaven......People that want to go to Hell....The only ruler is Jesus Christ.....Sorry JGC, you will never be a ruler over anyone. I find you to not show whole lot of wisdom in your thinking....LOL

In the 1960's Gene Roddenberry created Star Trek. Through his divine inspiration and prophecy of CREATIVITY he foretold Cellular Telephones, CAT scans, universal translators, QUIDs, GPS, Rover Sensors, Ultrasound Surgery, Transparent Aluminum armor, PHASR, Life scans and detectors.

Also, his STORY was not edited by multiple generations and schools of government, language, and study.

Fiction is fiction. No matter what coincidences you can find.

PS. You are getting really desperate when you copy and paste from Kirk Cameron's website.

I'd consider myself a very nonconventional Christian. Jesus Christ was a perfect example of the existence of God. There's no such thing as religion, I believe. Religion binds and a real relationship w/ God is liberating. I have no problems w/ atheists at all and I'm always up for a challenge. From my perspective an atheist has a limited mind; in contrast to being above a 'common' person. A mind that works from fact, numbers, and information or what's put before them. They only get what's laid out before them. A person in alignment w/ God operates a little bit differently. God doesn't just lay himself out for you to see but he's so easy to see. And don't get me started on the religious jokers that ruin it for the rest of us.
With all the information,'facts', and number driven atheist: you still can't PROVE the nonexistence of God. As a people, we're not an accident. The intricate and complex details of everything that you see and experience necessitates something bigger that you don't see.
As far as being less intelligent and 'religious' and intelligent and 'religiousless' is bologna. My IQ was 135 the last time I checked but probably a lot lower after spelling bologna - and using proper grammar and spelling effortlessly since 1989. ;-/

It is logically impossible to prove that an object or event does not exist. However, it is the essence and the backbone of science to provide evidence that something does exist. If something exists, such as energy, matter or space, it manifests itself to us by objective evidence. We can measure such manifestations or we can take objective images of them.

It is axiomatic in the affairs of man, and steeped in common sense that, whoever makes a claim, has to prove its validity. The burden of proof is always on the person making the claim. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

If a person should claim that the moon is made of green cheese, he has to prove that the moon actually consists of green cheese, instead of rock, as established by previous, hard, factual, objective evidence. It is logically impossible and absurd to demand that, whoever does not accept the claim that the moon is made of green cheese, should disprove the claim.

Only persons, who do not utilize logic, will accept as true statements that are completely unsupported by factual evidence. Yet, this form of irrationality and lack of fundamental logic is the foundation of all religions. Since approximately 80 % of the world population accepts the completely unsubstantiated statements of various religions, 80 % of the world population suffers from a severely distorted and thus ineffective worldview.

Wow, nice counter point. You backed me in the wall with such an excellent reply to the quoted post that I never claimed to be mine.
