roosevelt bias attack

it's only a hate crime or bias attack if they can charge a WHITE PERSON with the crime. otherwise they could care less. imagine if it had happened in levittown! we'd never hear the end of it. now this story will soon disappear. this kind of law is obviously aimed at WHITES ONLY.

So this sort of enforcement is ok with you? OhWellShitHappens wrote: Sounds like this town has bad drug problems. The same practice should be applied in Hempstead, Freeport and similar towns to get a grasp on the problem.

This has been happening for years, especially near the Texas-Louisiana border. On the La. side, it resulted in all kinds of lawsuits, and as a direct result this is how dash-cams came into being, to stop the crooked cops from fleecing innocent people. Police corruption brought about the use of dash-cams.

Well it would be if you are not from this part of the country and you do not plan to travel there or you are traveling alone or without a person of color in your vehicle. I do not think that some of you OTHERS take this sort of thing seriously as long as it does not happen to you. You seem to look at it well they deserve it even if they are not convicted of a crime. I guess you think that this should be done for crimes that they may commit or for the crimes of other Blacks. I do not know I am just saying. Slappy Sanchez wrote: <quoted text> It's fine with me.

Then a story like this emerges and we find out that there really are Law Officers like Beuford T Justice in Smoky and the Bandit, who think they are the righteous ones and the Law can be bent if not broken. On the plus side, I didn't see any allegations that the cops are personally profiting from the siezures. Maybe, just maybe, they're a bit too zealous in performing what they think is their duty. OTOH, the racial angle is way too heavily balanced against minorities, once again reinforcing our poor misinformed Northern perceptions of what Southern Justice looks like. Like you, Daniel, I will avoid the South, or if that isn't possible I'll make sure my whiteness shows.

Yeah, one non-minority out of 40 people contacted in the story proves it's absolutely not a racial thing. NOT!!! The casinos want to see you real soon, your being math-challenged and all.

Like you, Daniel, I will avoid the South, or if that isn't possible I'll make sure my whiteness shows. To make a long story short, I was stopped by a cop in Ohio only 1/2 mile from the PA. line. The judge demanded a bribe to let me go back to New York. This was in 1976. My father bailed me out of jail, paid the bribe to the judge,(I had to repay the amount to my father), and I NEVER went to, or thru, Ohio again. TRUE story.

I don't know about every case involving this town, but who travels with a glass pipe used for smoking grass as a gift for their sister, and over $6,000 in CASH they claim is for buying a used car? If they possess drug paraphernalia, and have that kind of cash, no wonder the police were suspicious. How many people really buy used cars with thousands of dollars in cash, instead of credit cards or checks? Obviously it's not illegal to possess cash, but in this day and age, who carries so much around with them, besides bad guys who can't or won't use banks?
