8 years for killing two people, and another guy faces 495 years for raping and kidnapping two people? Not to say that the rapist's crime was any less horrible to the victims, at least they are still alive.

"not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Her parents testified today for the prosecution. Travis Woerner, 16, also was riding in the back seat without a seat belt and was ejected."

Seatbelts people...come on!

Can we see a trend here! If he doesn't pay NOW for what he did, he will never become a "good citizen." The fact that a black guy did recieve 495 yrs for rape and this WT only recieved 8 yrs does seem very biased. Not sure who is more to blame here. The judges/lawyers or the jury.

I went to Westfield with Nick Gaunt and played football with him. He is a very smart guy, very cool and generous but he makes bad decisions, especially when it comes to drinking.

I think the sentence is light, when you drive drunk you are responsible for whatever happens as a result of you driving drunk. It was a tragedy, and I still remember when it happened how big a deal it was in Westfield. I didn't really know T Dub or Kristin Rice, but from what i heard they were great people who also made bad decisions.

Nick, I'm sorry this happened man. Grow from this experience.

By the way thats a horrible picture of him, he doesnt really look like that he must of been drunk or something.

He must pay or what he did. He has no direction and hopefully he corts will impose a better direction for him. He has supposedly been abused as a child and tha twas brought up. Many people have had a rough ime of it while young and they have made EXCELLENT people of themselves. He chooses to follow the pitiful me syndrome. Others cannot and should not protect him and coddle hime from what he continues to do, drink and drive. The next person buried could be the one he victimizes a realative of yours. He is where he needs to be. However pissed off his familymenbers are. In time, they will realize that his wa sthe best thing that could have happened to him. Kristin and Travis will be proud of him if he is able to turn his life around. The fact that he says he would lioke to turn his life around to help others....look only so far as Brandon Robinson.

A friend of mine ran a stop sign on a counrty road, and killed a 17 year old girl. He had never been in trouble, just made a bad choice. He served 8 years (max on the charge) and has been a productive memebr of society, ever since. He gave up drinking, moved to another state, and got on with his life. I don't condone what he did, but he has made the most of his freedom ever since. I hope Gaunt gets the hint, and changes for the better upon his release. You cannot bring back the dead, but you can live your life in honor and respect of those affected. This kid seems to be in need of direction.
