The families get life without their children, the kids got the death penalty and she gets 12 1/2 years? This is not JUSTICE!
I think she needs to be tried under the Federal Civil Rights act. She did deprive them of their rights.

What about the identify theft charges. When does she get the federal trial in that. I cant imagine her getting of free on those.

This is just great now we have to provide for her upkeep and housing for at least 9 more years! When are you liberal a**holes going to allow us to handcuff them to a park bench year round and they can try and line up food from other illegals or freeze and starve?

Remember, she will be out in 6 or 8 years. She will not serve the the whole sentence. Then she can go home to her family members.

Not in any news cast the past couples days did it state that when she is done serving, if she gets to go back to Mexico. I am certain she wants out of the wonderful place she wanted in (USA)! I think she should have to live in that small town! Where she has to go to the stores, churches, etc. and let people "heckel" her.
A life of people here in the USA will be worse than the happiness she will get when she is out of jail and back in Mexico.......the place she wanted out of!

"Given time for good behavior, Franco's actual time in prison could be closer to eight years. Her attorneys anticipate federal authorities would then deport Franco instead of prosecuting her on outstanding identity theft charges. "

The article does specifically say that they expect her to be deported rather than prosecuted for other charges. Perhaps that's best.....unless she gets back into the country!

hey Genius, she's not even from Mexico, she's from Guatemala.

If anyone bothers to do a little research or even read the other PP articles, they'd know that vehicular deaths get low sentances. Janklow got 100 days in jail for killing someone. Most drunk drivers that kill people get around 5 years (yes, I know, they can get out earlier). So 12 years is more than double that, and she didn't go get smashed at the local bar beforehand. There was enough doubt, 12 years is plenty for being convicted for being Hispanic and illegal. If she was white and got 5 years, you'd all be saying "but she has to live with the guilt for the rest of her life!" Hope none of you ever hit anyone, or get a DUI after hitting someone, or your kids never do. At that point, you'd say "it wasn't intentional, it was a mistake!" and be happy as hell you're white and won't get 12 years.

And 100 years wouldn't make those mothers and fathers feel better, and it wouldn't bring the kids back. At least someone is getting punished for it, to give them some closure.

You are a racist moron. Color or ethnicity has nothing to do with this. I don't care what the mitigating circumstances are, 12.5 years is NOT sufficient. Maybe 12.5 years per child.

Obviously, you have never lost a child or a family member in a car accident/violent way.

This judge should lose his job. We need to introduce legislation that adds 20 years to anyone that commits a crime where someone dies if that person is not a US citizen.

12 years? That's what 4 childrens lives are worth? 12 Years???? What about her illegal status? How about the fact she had stolen someone's Social Security number and falsified her identity??? What is that worth? I say at least another 12 years.... And on her day of release, put her on a plane and send her out of the country!

So should you, or you're relatives that came to a country, illegaly (yes, it was illegal and people hated immigrants at Ellis Island). That type of post just reinforces the feeling by many that she was convicted because she was foreign and Hispanic. You do nothing to support your argument by being a blatant racist.

What was illegal about immigrating (through Ellis Island) in 1860?

You're right - the fact that she was dangerously operating a vehicle that killed 4 children had nothing to do with the conviction and sentence. It was solely based on her status as an illegal alien. You do nothing to support your argument by being an ignoramus.

With time off for good behavior, I doubt that she will serve 12 years. At most she will serve about 5 years.

Why was she not charged with identity theft and illegally entering the United States, in addition?

She should serve AT LEAST the full 12 years and then be deported.

All the bleeding hearts and greedy business owners who facilitate the illegal alien menace share the blame for the tragic death of these children as well.

Virgo

You're finally at your best after relaxing and catching your breath for a moment. Now that you're rested, it's time to do some of the things you've been putting off lately. Make a sudden appearance to surprise someone from your past. No matter how many new people you meet, don't forget that old friendships are the glue that holds the relationship cycle together. Keep in mind that a present doesn't have to cost much, as long as it comes from the heart.
