What do others think of this new store? I drove to Nacogdoches today to shop at this store for 2 items. I was very disapointed! I came in looking for a large filter for a 55 gallon fish aquarium, and clippers to shave my dog. They had a filter for a fish tank, a brand I had never heard of, that I probaly couldnt get filters for at wal mart. The price was about $20 more than wal-mart. They had no dog clippers what so ever! Their prices are to way to high. I have found cheaper stuff at Petsmart and Petco. They do sell frontline flea medicine. If your willing to pay big bucks. My vet sells it cheaper.
This would not bother me but when they first put their sign up, I looked the store up online. It basicaly said outlet prices. This led me to believe cheaper than wal-mart.

Petsense is disappointing to all of us. You are correct about the prices being better at Wal Mart and the fact that Wal Mart is just a few feet from Petsense makes me wander why anyone would even shop Petsense. Their toys range from around $4.00-$20.00 and you can get the same toys at Wal mart for 1/2 price. Im not at all impressed by the employees at Petsense. I predict that the store will be closed by the middle or end of 08.

Thanks for the correction above Tim! Also I wanted to point out that Dog Chapman fan "disapointed" should really be disappointed and "probaly" should be probably. I agree with the reviews; unlike walmart who sells for less, petsense sells a lot of crap for more.

Rachel, you will "probably" be "disappointed" to find out that you failed to use a comma between above and Tim, as well as between Also and I. I just wanted to point THAT out! Have either of you ever been on the internet before? It should come as no surprise that people don't go back and check spelling before posting on message boards.

As for PetSense, I went in looking for some floating fish food and there was none to be found. Seems to me that this would be a pretty basic item for a store like this to carry.

This is disappointing to hear. We're getting a Petsense in Palestine, and I was really looking forward to having something better than Wal-Mart for pet supplies.

My husband is the manager of a new Petsense in our very small town and it's a huge hit here. All we have is Walmart and the prices at Petsense are WAY cheaper than walmart! They only sell premium foods so of course they are going to be higher than your grocery brands. They are also extremely cheaper than Petsmart. I hate Petsmart, it's way too expensive. I can't even buy a simple collar there for under $6. I don't know what stores yall are going into but it doesn't sound like ours at all. I'm not partial because of the management either because quite frankly, I never get to see my husband so I hold a little resentment there but being the owner of 2 large dogs, they sure have helped our wallet...and no not because of employee discount either.

We just had a Petsense open here in Albemarle-we have a Wal mart and an independant pet store that grooms-Pet Palace too.I normally buy my pet stuff at Pet Palace but did check out the new store--never again will I complain about high prices--I found out that Pet Palace was more reasonably priced had a better selection of premium products at a reasonable price and the girls there know their stuff--

A "Sound Off" resurrection for folks in NACONOWHERE. Since local wannabe paper dropped its opinon column from paper. It's been really boring to read about NAcogdoches news. Nice to know we can form our own opinon again. As well ass spread the facts first.

A new PetSense just opened in Mount Airy, NC and we are well pleased with the merchandise selection and prices as well as the staff. The manager even special orders things for me too and calls when they arrive. The first item I looked at was more than $9.00 cheaper than the exact item at Petsmart at either location in Winston-Salem, NC. The only pet store we had which was overpriced and staffed by only a rude owner has shut down and moved into his basement.

I am very disappointed in Petsense. Living in a small town, we only have one pet store and it isn't much better. I was looking really forward to this one. Well, the people that work there are really rude. There was only a couple people that seemed to care about the customers and one of them was the store manager and he's not there anymore and now they have some woman running the store who has NO idea what she's doing and shows no interest in helping the customers, at least not me. Their prices are way too high for their products. I'll just stick with the local pet supply stores like McCoy in Midland where the people are nice and the prices on their premium food are low.

PetPalace really does suck! The people who work there are trashy and idiots, they cant even de-flee a dog. Their store is always a mess and they treat their animals horribly.

I love PetSense, I get all my dog's treats from the store and the only one of all of it's competitors to sell natural non-additive treats for great prices. I don't shop for dog food there so i can't comment on that. But for the quality of product and price I can only praise the store. Their Advantage is better priced than the major chains and my Vet so I buy my flea & tick at PetSense as well.

I have been very pleased with Petsense. The girls are very helpful, very polite, and very informative. I bought a dog bed at Walmart. It lasted about 2 hours before it was chewed up. Got another at Petsense - no problems. The dog toys are better quality at Petsense. They last a lot longer than the ones that I have bought at Walmart. At Walmart, there is no one to help you, and I have to search and search for what I am looking for. I had a problem with shedding, and the girl at Petsense showed me what kind of brush to get. Since my dog chews up everything, she also showed me toys that my dog could not chew up. They cost a little more, but they are the only ones that have not been chewed to pieces. Today, I bought an aquarium and set-up supplies for hermit crabs. The girl helping me saved me a lot of time. I handed her my list of items and she helped me find everything. The aquarium was cheaper than any that I saw at Walmart. Overall, I am very pleased that we have a Petsense in Albemarle.
