Sad to hear when we lose one of our own.
I'll be looking into this case for signs of any foul play.

If you read the story, you'd see the house was gutted and the dog got lost in the smoke and flames in a fire that broke out at night when the owner was asleep. And the owner had to go to the hospital. He couldn't get the pup out, and it's a terrible loss for him -- the dog and the 200-year-old house -- but at least he was not killed or badly injured. I don't think any of us are in a position to question whether the guy acted properly under those circumstances. He lost his best friend, who had just saved his life. B.I.P., indeed!

Rest in Peace, Ranger. I think the owner should have GRABBED Ranger on his way out. No matter the layout of the house. I'd physically DRAG my dogs out if I had to. God bless Ranger.

OMG...poor Ranger. In the short months that he lived he proved to be a real friend to his owner. I have a 2 year old golden retriever myself and they are wonderful dogs and always watch out for their owners. RIP..Ranger... and my heartfelt wishes goes out to your owner.

I was there, saw the fire before fire dept arrived. Called 9-1-1. Windows were popping out from the heat. Poor Mr. Shafran jumped out the window and landed on his back. There was no way he could even see his pup in all that black smoke. I am sure he would have saved Ranger if he could have. Ranger, RIP and my prayers are with the Shafran family.
