Of course, it must be the police's fault, how about the dumg citizen that called the police.but didn't stay until they arrived. Duh to her also.
The driver was assured that the people who went off road were playing a prank. The misinformation removed any hope that the driver would have turned back.

Toatally agree. This is the second time, and third death in two diferent twons for the same reason. But when i got pulled over for doing 58 in 55, the cops, though they had nor reason to i gave theem permission, sure did a thourough search of my car. The police should search at least as hard for missing people at the scene of a wreck as they do for contraband in a middle aged lab tech's car.

It's not our job to stop. Our tax dollars pay these cops and dispatchers to do their jobs. Oh and the word is Samaritans. Get a high school education before you reply.
It may not be our job to stop but it is our "job" to report. Sometimes it is hard to describe where an accident happened, especially along a stretch of highway. I guess, if I am ever in this situation, I'll come back and wait for the police to arrive.

This is similiar to a story that happened last year near Gary, IN. A teen died in a car accident and the POLICE was directed to the scene and discovered the wrecked vehicle but no victim.

The very next day, the father of teen discoved the body a few feet away from the wreckage!!!!

Sometimes, I believe our police officers have other things on their minds, like coffee and donuts and where can I hide to collect my pension in s few years!!!!

So sad for the family!!!!

Remind me never to have an accident in Garrett Indiana.

The two deputies who abandoned the search were "devastated by it." Wonder if they get to keep their job.
