My sisters Patricia, Mary and I were in St. Joseph's around 1962-1968. I remember a large courtyard and a merry-go-round. My sister Patricia had broken her leg. I had gotten the mumps. I wish I could find some of the girls that were there. I had a best friend, but do not remember her name.

I don't know if any of you'll remember me. I was know to all of you as Miss Margaret...and I taught Ballet, Tap, Folk Dancing, Guitar, Arts+Crafts, Synchronized Swimming and Red Cross Junior Life Saving at the Pool. We also put on quite a few 'Dance Recitals' and Hoot'n Annies on the stage and with a Sr. Angeline and a few Seminarians help, as you all sang, we put on the first 'Folk Mass' in the Chapel. The retired nuns of the Fransiscan Sisters of the North American Continent wouldn't hear of it at first..but I knew that we 'had them' when I saw them 'tapping their shoes in the front row after the first few lines of the first song...After the Mass they wanted to know when the 'next one was going to be'. What a triumph! All of these things helped to make a lot of changes for the better for all of you....of course.... with the permission of Sr. Marita Paul and Sr. Joan. I still love all of you so and have often wondered what has happened with you wonderful hearts. I would love to hear from you. My email address is 'mdaviesmilona@gmail.com'. Please contact me and let me know what you're up to. It would really make my heart sing.

I was wondering if anyone knew if you were able to visit St. Josephs now known as Franciscan Sisters of Peekskill? My mother and her brothers and sisters were there i'm guessing 1969 - 1977. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I was in St Josephs home myself and my brother, Maria and Juan Rivera. This picture is not the one I have of the home, is there two St Josephs homes for orphans in Peekskill NY?

Hi everyone! My name is Wilfredo Morales, I was admitted to St. Joseph's Home, Peekskill on 8/24/72, I was 4years old at the time and left the home on 9/1/75. My brother, Alberto Morales and sister's, Sandra Morales & Evelyn Morales were also there at the time. I'm 45years old now, I still have dreams about being in the home. I had good times & lots of fun but I was very sad most of the time. I still remember my best friends name, Hilton. If anyone knows about anything around this time, 1972-1975, my email is, wilmorales40@yahoo.com. I would love to take a trip up that long hill! I remember sled riding down that hill. Hollween & Christmas oh! and the swimming pool was also so much fun!!! I hope everyone turned out just fine.

I was a counselor in the early seventies, and remember Jay, Tony, and Sister Marita Paul(she was amazing!). Anthony Perez may have been in a group I was with.

First I remember sister Marita Paul, Monsignor Bess, Tony Tiani, Jay Dowling, and that's all I can remember right now. It's funny I was trying to acquire medical records from back then and I bumped into this site. I wonder if anybody remembers me and my brother Anthony Perez

Miss Margaret,
I stumbled on this page out of morbid curiosity. Are you Margaret Davies? I was in Groups 6 and 7, 1962-64; I remember that you were very pretty with long hair, and you used to sit and play records with me and John Mateo...we both had a crush on you. There was a Mr. Davis who taught me soft shoe dancing; were you related? I remember Miss Pat; she would teach us colors and how to draw. I left St. Joseph's in 1964 and went to Mount Loretto on Staten Island; it was a horrible place and bad things happened there. I was sent home a few months later, thank God because I know that some of those kids were really bad. Maybe you'll get this message, and respond.
Best,

Miss Patty,
Are you the same Miss Patty who knew her colors so well? You taught a bunch of us from Group 6 about colors; I never forgot that. I was in St. Joseph's from 62-64; I stayed under the radar. Would you happen to have an address for Miss Margaret Davies? She used to play records with us. Any help would be appreciated. I still drive to St. Joseph's occasionally; mostly because I feel better when I do. Some good times, some not-so-good times. Thank you in advance for reading this.
Best,
Don Lombardi
